Their blog has been updated pretty frequently, after 2019- complete radiosilence. Same goes for overall campaign. Demo was never released to the public, only people on E3 2019 could play it. No updates. No communication. No nothing.
Except new trailer, obv.
On their Twitter page they repost stuff like merch and trailers. There are no posts and no replies.
When Xbox announced Silksong is coming out in 12 months, TC's PR guy only said "nah we're not going to make it" 1 month before said deadline. One could they really wanted to meet it and were sure in it... one could also think half a year is more than enough time to fix whatever you wanted to fix- but I see no release date and no game in sight.
So I have these possible explanations for their odd behaviour:
1) They have low social battery and find SNS distracting (could be true. Small indie studio. Busy with game development. Maybe they are introverts and focus soooo hard to deliver the best game possible. But again- they have PR guy for communicating with fans and promoting the game)
2) There's something going on behind the scenes (fiels got corrupted / there are too many bugs (no pun intended) / they want to add some massive area / complete re-work the entire thing)
3) It IS their marketing campaign (it kinda works but a lot of people are annoyed with their silence and even decided to boycott the game)
TC are alive and well. Multiple people met them on conventions and their office. The game is finished, as far as I know (or at least some alpha-beta-etc ver of it). Why they don't say anything or don't release it is beyond me. All I can do is patiently wait and play other stuff. I am still buying it d1, I am not going to pretend I am "so hurt so offended" kek, I am grown man with a list of hobbies and they don't own me anything. But a quick tweet on their part about the release year (not even date, a year) or current state of development would be very much appreciated.
Spoken like someone completely ignorant about game development.
The development of Hollow Knight took 3 years and the last DLC was released in the middle of 2018. It's almost 2024 now.
Work your ass off and/or pay a few million for extra manpower and what i said is completely plausible. They already are millionaires from the first game.
I'd say a brief summary of what's going on every few months with one or two screenshots or something would probably be enough to keep the hype train chooching. It seemed to work for Mount and Blade: Bannerlord.
Well, the customer wants to be entertained and they need money to rent their apartments and buy their food. Dependency goes both ways.
Silksong, like every sequel of a good game, is overhyped anyway.
People will buy it, no matter what, because all of that hype clouds their judgement.
For me this game doesnt look nearly as interesting as the first one.
All of the environments look very similar to each other.
The first one seems to have way more environmental variety.
This one is just steampunk city and thats it, kinda boring, settingwise, if you ask me ;)

-Article in Edge magazine in December 2020 (?) (can't remember the exact date, but it was definitely sometime around then)
-Trailer in June 2022
-Tweet from their marketing/publishing representative in May 2023
But sure, "4+ years of complete radio silence".
You are either a troll or have not actually watched the trailers... The first one has more environmental variety? There are very clearly several different environments JUST in the trailer. Its like saying the first one wast "just some damp city and thats it"...
Are you really implying there is no radio silence because they gave 3 announcements over 4 years, also with a gap of two years between 2 of them. Really? Bloodsteined gave more information just by announcing the delays alone.
Im not trying pick a figh with TC but this lack communication it IS worrisome. And stop with the "any game that take its time it will be a good game", THAT IS NOT AN UNIVERSAL TRUTH. Want an example. Mighty Number 9, that game also had it release time extended 4, 5 times, and the ending result was ♥♥♥♥. So stop using it as excuse to give ♥♥♥♥ to anyone that shows concern about the progress of the game.
-The trailer evidently gave no indication of the game being any closer to release
-Their tweet was basically last minute damage control confirming that whatever "deal" they established with Microsoft to be on their stage with the aforementioned trailer was nigh entirely pointless and misleading.
besides that, the only other time they posted something was a tweet promoting merch for their still unreleased game. Might as well have been radio silent at this point.
