PLEASE DON'T USE DENUVO
I need Team Cherry to confirm that they won't use DENUVO, seeing how it sneaking
it's way into indie games is concerning.

I hope they use it, because it does not do anything bad and it annoys people that still fall for the fake news

Crazy that anyone even thinls it's possible that a three person development self-published game (not to mention the original being DRM free) would use it.

But I suppose it's just like the loud anti-Denuvo pundants to not do even a minimum of research.

if the game gets denuvo, I will pirate it on principle.
if it doesn't I'll preorder :)
I'm planning to buy this game day one 😁, I hope Team Cherry won't use Denuvo.

Unfortunately, there has been a small number of indie titles using Denuvo fitting that description, some recently. For instance, Kaku from the small chinese developer BingoBell or also White Day 1 & 2 from developer Rootnstudio. Undisputed, from Steel City Interactive (rapidly growing but originally a single developer). Even Inside, the critical success of a two-developer team used Denuvo back in 2016.

There are others but I guess you got the point I wanted to make about where the lack of research lied. I'm pretty sure Team Cherry isn't even considering to use Denuvo but it wouldn't hurt to kill those concerns in the egg by officially confirming it.

If you just want to make yourself angry then by all means demand the devs respond to every steam comment.

Who knows maybe this time you will get lucky and they will come into this very discussion and confirm they will only use manual lookup passphrase copy protection.

With a code wheel!

Lose your code wheel, it's on you. When Denuvo servers are down and prevent you from playing, it's on them and way more inconvenient than looking for a copy of your manual online as it's not something the average consumer can ever fix.

I do prefer seamless solutions but the argument that because something worse exist, the limits of Denuvo are ok to accept looks a bit silly from the consumer's standpoint. It's a false dichotomy as it's not either Denuvo or something worse: there are multiple better and healthier alternatives for all the parties involved.

I don;t think anyone here is arguing that Denuvo is good.

What fake news? The forced online activation and limited machines activation(both are bad) are fake news?

There're some small team indies that use Denuvo, like Kaku, or anything under Frontier Foundry, Sega publishing, so I did some researchs.
The size of the game isn't the point, Denuvo(or anything that work similar to it) is bad for consumers and shouldn't be use."Piracy hurt sales if you don't use our DRM" is nonsense and indie developers shouldn't listen to that.

What's this suppose to mean?

Exactly.
Like I said, the way Irdeto trying to sneak their parasite into indie games is concerning, and disgusting.

Ironically since Silksong is likely to be DRM-free it'll be much easier to pirate.

i would recommend people to buy indie games rather than pirate them, they treat us better your average AAA publishers.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing for a low cost indie project. The original still sold like butter.

Denuvo makes more sense for big studios trying to sell their beta-state boardroom products for 60 soon to be 70 bucks at launch, with premade dlc season passes inc and half of the art locked behind the ingame cashstore.
