It's very close

Matthew "Leth" Griffin (the marketing guy for Team Cherry) did an interview with a YouTuber named BlueSR and he said a few interesting things in it.

He didn't want to talk much about the game itself but said that Team Cherry are still resolving some bugs and that the next update will not come from him, or Microsoft, but that Team Cherry will announce it themselves on Twitter. Leth also said that he himself just started another playthrough of Silksong, meaning he's already completed once. That means the gameplay itself must be done. He was asked if he's enjoying it and he said "of course I'm enjoying it" but didn't want to tell us anything more. He also said that whenever a game's release date gets closer, it's a "stressful time". Like getting all the things ready, marketing, showing the game to people, talking to people at Microsoft, etc.

You can go listen to the full interview yourself but I got the notion that it's very near. Based on the things he said and how he said them, he sounded very excited although he couldn't say much yet. But you could hear him smiling. My own guess... 2-3 months and the game is out. And I'd say definitely by the end of the year.

Well no, that doesn't mean in any way that it's done.

It just means that it's "feature complete" (as is sometimes said). There's potentially a lot left to be done.

Thanks for sharing this information! Hope to hear something till the end of this year! Christmas time is pretty cool for release window (pun), for example.

A tidbit like that makes the lack of communication about the progress towards actually releasing it all the more annoying, though.

Yeah, it could be out just before Halloween also, who knows. If not Halloween, then just before Christmas would be a perfect time to release it.

My guess is that they are aiming for a Halloween release but they are going to miss it and go for Christmas instead.

I'm ready to bet that the game comes out before the year is over. Tell you what, I'm willing to buy you the game on Steam should it come out in 2024 or later, if you're willing to buy it for me should it come out in 2023. How's that?

Bro, if you took that gamble you would lose, it's clear something went wrong on TC, Silksong was on development for a metric ♥♥♥♥ ton of time, meanwhile Blasphemous released and then they went and made a sequel, Grime released and they are going to make a sequel soon and same with other bigger companies, Elden ring released and then AC 6, Cyberpunk released in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ state and now they are releaseing the DLC overhauling most combat aspects of the game, and Silksong somehow is still not finished, it's simply not normal and they clearly have some development problems they don't talk about.
