1. Silksong is not, and has never been, delayed. A "delay" would imply that a release date was previously specified, and the project has been met with unforeseen issues that result in it no longer being able to meet that date, and will now be released at a future point. Since Team has never given a statement regarding any form of launch window, it cannot have been pushed back to a new date, and therefor cannot be delayed.
2. We've been told, by Leth, that early stages of development on Silksong had begun shortly after the release of the original Hollow Knight (and possibly sometime before it as well). So it has been in development for at least 5 years - 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and now going into 2022 - not 3 years.
3. Can we please have something new in this forum? It is tiring to come back here all the time and see only two kinds of threads: the one where someone is upset over the game not being out / the developers not giving an update, and the other one where someone rants / criticizes the people that make the first type of thread. If those are the only post ideas that anybody can come up with, then this forum might as well remain silent like Team Cherry's blog.
Hell, even the Hollow Knight subreddit barely even talks about Silksong at all at this point. Though, I would guess that, if it weren't for moderators there, there'd probably just be more posts there about this subject matter anyway.
There's nothing baffling about it. Going radio silence and taking many years to make a game has always been the industry standard. The NORM. In fact, for a game of this scale, with that small of a team, it should take longer than average. Consider yourself lucky if we get it this year
Since indie devs have become a huge thing, people in the gaming community suddenly have felt entitled to free post 1.0 content and indepth weekly updates from devs without fail, which is absolutely ABSURD. Silly.
Your whole post is nonsense. It's not the NORM and it usually means there are major issues and red flags. Yes, some developers choose to quietly work on their game, but plenty of developers make updates along the way. And you keep making the point about a small team, which begs the question, why don't they hire some more help? The fact that they haven't means there are major issues with the development of this game. I really don't care when they release it, but in my opinion, this game isn't coming out anytime soon, and at some point you will get what everyone else already knows.
It doesn't have to be the norm. There have been games in which the devs have communicated at least somewhat frequently (even once every couple months or so would be good enough). ATM, I think It would be more than enough for Team Cherry to simply clarified if the game was coming out in 2022 or not, or at least trying to.
Claiming that because the game is big, and the team small, that it's indicative of development issues is... well, you're just pulling that out of your a**, to be honest. Especially since we have a person involved in the community - Leth - who's job includes keeping the community up-to-date with the state of the game's progress. And he has stated, in the past, that Team Cherry has not run into any sort of issues that would greatly impact development.
This is really, really bad logic lol. Why would you blindly assume this?
If they didn't expanded the team, it's probably simply because it's already working well like that.
It's not easy to add a new member in a small team as the impact is much heavier. Introducing a new member means dividing the benefits by another share (thus increasing the development costs) while not being sure this will do good to the game. It's safer to assume that a longer development time is probably the best solution. There's also a chance they didn't find someone that meet their requirements.
Plus, if I remember well they said they were working on several projects at the same time.
As it's probably more interesting in a creator perspective to explore new mechanics and gameplay, there is a good chance this is having an impact on Silksong development time.
But it probably can be a good thing too if they learn some new things that can be used to improve Silksong.
Another hypothesis is them coding on a new engine for Silksong to try and avoid some difficulties they met in HK. This would mean rebuild some things from scratch.
In the end, the answer to all these questions will emerge. But I'm pretty sure all the time invested in this game will be for the better.
And believe me, the day that you'll all realize that, i will be there laughing hard at you for being so blind all this time. It's really hilarious how they are able to toy with you normies.
Give me at least three documented examples of that so-called basic strategy so I can give a little credit to what you said ;)
If not, let the grown-ups talks together while you play with your little trolly-toys, sweetheart.
Only three? Easy,
Black and White 3 (Lionhead Studios)
Project Titan (Blizzard, some scraps of the concept were later used in the creation of Overwatch)
Hand of Fate 3 (Defiant)
There is a plethora of others examples.
