Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Why are Hollow Knight Fans so annoying?
At every live presentation, like Nintendo Direct or similar, the live chat is full of comments about Silksong. Can you just let us watch the presentation without having an exhausting and toxic chat where every other message is from an annoying kid begging for Silksong. It will be released when it is released. Just please be a little more patient, it can't be that hard

So when does Silksong come out?

There are also people who call other games trash just because they only wanted Silksong.

I really wish those people get kicked into a parallel universe where Silksong is entirely cancelled or just doesn't exist, that would be a good punishment imo.
It helps trying to always keep in mind, that all groups and communities can have a very small, but very vocal minority of people who may seem annoying and behave in a toxic way towards the whole community. It's not exclusive to Hollow Knight... it's how the whole world works.

Sometimes only a small 1% of people may give ~50% of all messages - because they badly want to voice their own opinion and specifically target such events for a better chance to be heard - and that distorts the real perspective.

True, but from my observation, HK fans tend to be quite deep on the bad end of the scale.

Well, that's because you focus on HK. If you payed attention to other titles... nothing different and honestly it's pretty tame in case of HK.

Anticipated games that get announced then go on long periods of radio silence tend to build up toxicity along with the hype.
Toxicity among (some) people builds up regardless of what may be the cause of it. It's not limited to silence. It can be really anything, any reason whatsoever, that some person doesn't like or feels really strongly about (vaccinations, racial, political, sexual, sex of protagonist are some other examples, related or unrelated). It comes down to how we as people can't handle or understand some things on our own, and in what way/how we deal with our own fear, nerves and stress that are building within us. And how we justify our behaviours. We all as people don't like some things, but not all of us deals with what we don't like in the same way. We're all different.

Some people due to how they were taught, their upbringing, environment they live in, and many other reasons, think and know that the main way to deal with inside emotions building within is to behave in a certain way towards others (or in public) to relieve that fear and stress. It's the only ways they know about, if no one taught them more constructive ways in their life (yet). I'm talking from my own experience.

its the same for everything though, chat for smash directs was just "i want this character" spam, e3 is always spam about elden ring, or botw2, or some other highly anticipated game. you've just noticed the silksong spam and confirmation bias reminds you every time you see it, but its not unique. it's also not helped that HK has millions of sales so there's a much larger fanbase compared to a lot of other titles, especially other indie titles, so the low percentage of people who do spam make up more people overall.
also, silksong has had barely any news in 3 years, so people are just excited to hopefully get some. i dont really know why you'd make a thread just to hate on people who are excited for something. maybe you should just find something to get excited about for yourself.

Let me say this: when everything is toxic, nothing is toxic.

Also when you call someone toxic they might become toxic. That's how gamers turned the whole internet gay waybackwhen.
