How is this not already a Netflix series?

I have definitely seen Netflix do something with much worse IP and I would absolutely love to see an anime based in the Hollow Knight world and in this art style.

I don't think they will since Team Cherry has brought up that they don't want a Netflix show...

But how has the fanbase not done this yet? How is there not a fan-made anime of Hollow Knight? It sounds like something that would exist because we're deprived of silksong info.

I believe it was Rusty (The Superforge) whom mentioned in one of his videos covering the Edge Magazine content that Leth stated during an interview that Team Cherry had been approached by companies in the past looking to do an animated show, comic series, or other works of that nature. Their response is essentially that they don't want to "corporatize the brand". They want to keep Hollow Knight as what it is and nothing more.

And personally I highly respect that kind of attitude, and I believe that all artists / writers / developers / etc. ought to hold that level of value in their creations. Don't ever sell your work off to some business, keep it as your project, because you are what makes it successful.

Team cherry would have to either write more story or have a ghost writer work in their stead. Story so far is sparse and just serviceable at best. The bulk is left to "souls" type speculations on the fans. Don't think they will though and honestly I wouldn't care for it. Not everything needs a netflix adaptation. Hollow Knight is one of the least IPs that come to mind.

Not suggesting they "sell out". They can retain creative control and ownership. Plenty have before.
