But how has the fanbase not done this yet? How is there not a fan-made anime of Hollow Knight? It sounds like something that would exist because we're deprived of silksong info.
And personally I highly respect that kind of attitude, and I believe that all artists / writers / developers / etc. ought to hold that level of value in their creations. Don't ever sell your work off to some business, keep it as your project, because you are what makes it successful.
Good thing there are already several canon gay characters, then (Sheo/Nailsmith, and Ze'Mer).
Not to mention that all the Vessels are technically genderless.

Not suggesting they "sell out". They can retain creative control and ownership. Plenty have before.
