I really hope Quirrel comes back somehow, even if the nail he leaves is called "Death Nail" in the files.

Yeah, that would be really suprising and good. Or if not Quirrel himself, then at least a confirmation of what happened to him.

Oh god, no. I've had enough of his ramblings after three playthroughs so I left him in Deepnest for my fourth one.

On topic, I wouldn't be surprised if Cornifer and his wife (Iseldra?) return. Cornifer is such a lovable character it'd be a mistake to leave him. As for his wife, if you dreamnail her, she wants to return adventuring and even join her husband in his expeditions. There's a lot of room for her to develop, so I really hope TeamCherry builds on her in this game.

I don't think it's going to happen, because there appears to already be a map-related character, but I would love to see Cornifer and Iselda.

In particular, exploring the enormous world of Hollow Knight, feeling lost, trying to remember my way back, seeing bits of paper and hearing Cornifer's familiar, light-hearted humming was a joyous moment. Once I finally found him it was like seeing a childhood friend.

Without him, I have a slight worry that the game just won't feel, "Hollow Knight." Though it is its own new game in a completely different environment, so I hope to have new characters that inspire those sorts of feelings.

The opening cinematic shows that Hornet was captured and taken to Pharloom, so my guess would be that we won't be seeing anybody make a return. (It also doesn't help that a majority of the NPCs in the first game ended up dying during the journey.)

it wouldn't be farfetched to see Cornifer and Iselda out and about. Cornifer lusts for travel and he finished mapping all of Hollownest then had a big long rest afterwards. I would love to see more of Cornifer and for Iselda to pick up her nail again and see her in action.

Imo, Bretta will come back as well because she disappears to Howling Cliffs after we defeat Zote 4 times. She seeks love and might be desperate enough to leave "Hollow"nest to find true love.

I really hope we'll see Quirrel as well. He is one of the few friends remaining with Oro, Mato, Sheo and Nailsmith (can we call Zote a friend? He is lovely but I don't want to see him ever again haha).

Probably not, he sacrificed himself for the sake of the kingdom to protect it from the Infection. When defeating Radiance, he becomes a part of the Abyss and Team Cherry stated that they aren't sure he managed to make it out from it. If so, maybe we'll see him again! But imo, if the Knight resurrect from the Abyss, he is more willing to stay at Hallownest since he is one of the only shards of past that remain in the kingdom, along with the Pure Vessel (we see him in the very last ending of Godhome). Moreover, Hallownest needs a new king after the end of HK. Hornet is more entitled than him to claim the throne since she is the daughter of the Pale King and Watcher Herrah but she doesn't want it.

Anyway, we'll see when Team Cherry release Silksong. I can't wait !

that doesnt seem like it would happen because of the endings of the game. cause the true ending is with Ghost becomeing one with the void and sinking into the ground so if anything you would probably see the void and the ghost would be on its shoulder or something

I would like for Silksong to follow up on the (non-Delicate Flower) Godmaster ending, and tie in the character that appears in that cutscene, because I feel that the implications of it are simply too significant for it to be left on a cliff hanger like that.

But as I've been told, Hollow Knight's plot was designed to allow any ending to be canon, so that probably won't happen. (That fact kind of gives the 'prequel' argument a point, too, although I'm personally more interested in a story that takes place after the original game.)
