Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong

I hope it has a better charm system…….
My biggest complaint with Hollow Knight was the charms… really starting out it was not too bad but the closer to mid game and beyond the charms are simply underwhelming and annoying, all the 4-5 charms need to be 3 and most of the 3 need to be 2 slot…. More mixing and matching better combos, maybe reduce slot usage for charms of like nature, ect I dunno but the charm system in HK became stale around mid-game dragging the whole game down for me.

It won't have a charm system. Instead you can use weapons and traps that you crafted (or at least found the materials to it).

Problem stilll remains on how they pace out the mid and later game, if there is a crafting system to make disposabile items then I hope you can easily make multiples, BOTW pisses me off with it one thing at a time crafting, if its jsut crafting to unlock a power that has a cooldown then it makes more sense to be one at a time.

i didnt think it was all that bad, but thought i might turn you on to something you might not be aware of.
you know we have a modding community?
when i was made aware of it, i got another 3 playthroughs out of it, its got allot of mods for all sorts of stuff, im sure there are some for balance, you could get your fix there if you still wanted to play HK.

You can mod HK? Like make all charms use one slot?

Don;t get me wrong its an above average game tho I question the super meat boy palace bit(white palace was kinda out of no where and not being able to phaze through the saws really pissed me off). other than that I felt there was no real need to try more charm combos(even tho I did like crazy) the only charms that seemed to help me surive where nail charms, and mabye the grub charms.

but anyway..... you can mod HK? *drool*

Eh its all good I always considered cheating modding, its less about making a game easy and more about making a game fun, the NES days is where I started and random games have such odd mechanic’s you need to tweak them to bring out the joy or the luzz, inf weight mod on Ledged of Legia 2 made the game fun rather than a grindy grind fest, also helps when a game is more fun it takes pressure off the story so you are not trying hard to find a reason to keep playing.. yes I am a mechanic nazi despite being a modder/cheater LOL

I just hope it won't be like the first game where you use the same 3 or 4 charms for everything.

I know right? the charm system is mostly fine for the first third to half of the game then as things heat up you really don't get enough good charms to counter a lack of high skill, if they offered better combos then it would work out better as it is charms need only 1 or 2 slots..not to mention a quater of the charms need to be abilties or skill upgrades and not charms that waste slots... I mean I can dig a universal equipment system where you can equip anything as long as you have the slots for it..... but as how HK is done it needs twice as many slots... I hope the new crafting system is not a quagmire of crafting like it is is everything else..that or you make fragile stuff all the time......

From the demo, tools are depleted upon use, but can be restored at benches by spending shell shards, a material found on enemies and some destructible objects. Shards are not lost upon death, but new tools may require something more than currency (rosaries) to be acquired.

From the trailer, it seems tools are equipped at benches too. However the number of tools you can equip is limited to a crest's capacity. No more info on that though.

I think otherwise, it forces you to pay more attention to what you equip and it doesn't break you out of the action.

Never ever ever ever effected me in dark souls becuse there is no puaseing it when you got into the menu so you kinda have to be sure about things, since HK is the same in that the game dose not pause in the menu(system menu yse but not equip/map/items,ect) so all it dose in HK is force you to waste time to go back to a bench so you can test or change things, its almsot as bad as the BS crap they pull in BOTW... the more arrows you have the less arrows show up, the more qauilty equipment you have makes it so its spawned less...its so stupidly artifical and only meant for you to waste time....... in the souls games you have a choice on grinding more oft than not and you don't have to do it unless you make weaker all rounder charatcers like I do.

I have literally zero idea what this topic is about. There are weaker charms and there are more powerful charms. Powerful charms cost more notches than weaker charms. you can mix and match a ton of charms unless you're only using 4 or 5 notch ones. Absolutely sensible, and I don't see the problem at all.

And what's this about mid and late game? Firstly of all, you can collect either of the charms at any point in the game. There is no mid or late game in Hollow Knight except when you compare the very start of the game to when you have unlocked the final boss. Secondly, there are extremely powerful charms which are useful even for the fifth pantheon. Those aren't even the 4 or 5 notch ones, by the way. Absolutely no idea what you mean by "underwhelming" and "annoying". In fact Soul Twister, Shaman Stone and any charms giving you more Soul per hit are absolutely overpowered, and so are Quickslash and Fragile or Unbreakable Strength. Grubsong is also really good.
