Hope the game has a good story
Layer verse is a ridiculous name. This isn't some kind of AU. It is a direct sequel, hence the name. And this person is absolutely correct about marketing. If you have success with a game, then make a sequel, it only makes sense to call it Layers of Fear 2. One, marketing. People already know the name. Promotion is much more effective. You confuse everyone if you change up things like that. That's why they changed the name TO Layers of Fear 2 rather than what it was called (wasn't it French or Polish or something?)
These are called franchises, or series, or several other terms. Would it make sense to call RE Resident Verse? No. That would be the dumbest move Capcom could make.
How many different "riffs" on the whole "spooky painting" motif do you think they can do before people start moaning that "this is getting old, we've seen this before"? I think they 100% did the right thing choosing acting/filmmaking as the artistic mediums to explore this time around. There's only so much you can do with the one premise.
