Creating functioning DAM - Water Update Testing
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3082467641

Hello everyone!
Just wanted to block the path by swimming to secure my villagers on testing map game after water update.
However building walls did not block the path.
So I end up building walls underwater aswell .
River was blocked so it overflowed to the other areas.

So was thinking of this; I want water to run and flow but dont want any animals or villagers to pass/ walk...
I remembered on the Monday talks that windows is not blocking water flow!!!

SO I tested by building few windows to create a DAM.
IT WORKED.

Please check above link or my shared screenshots as I shared 3 of them how it look likes...

How to create A DAM

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3082465902

First block the river by any walls
Second spot the walls that you want to build your window(dam)
Third block those walls by building a second layer of wall since you gonna turn those first layer of wall into windows.( not all but few if you want less/low flow. IF you want massive flow then turn all first later of walls into windows)
Fourth build the windows
Fifth remove the second layer of walls which blocks the windows
Sixth ENJOY your new dam and controlled flow of river.

You can always close the windows but instead block the windows with building another wall (however it may cause overflow for some areas !) to fix the river bed or mine/dig easily for resources while the river bed is free from water

this is super dope actually, thanks for the write up - I am using this currently to have a river flow into an underground forge to "quench" metal, plus the water fall sounds cool.

I have the entry of the water into my underground blocked with stone windows so it still keeps the room type "workshop" and the water looks like it is flowing out of the windows, pretty cool.

I have also been toying with the idea of having a window control flow to a tunnel where enemies attack, when they are in the tunnel I open the window and flood the tunnel to the roof drowning the attack party.
