Underground water suggested mechanics
I was thinking on how to make the whole water well thing work. My idea is:

1- make a view in which you see in shades of blue presence of underground water;
2- build a well with stone and wood that authomatically reaches the last layer;
3- if you build a well in a "improper" area (with low water) you either: a) have low work speed when extracting, or b) deplet the well faster;
4- the well must have low hp and low insulation in order for people not exploit it as fake stone walls;
5- if any section of the well is damaged the whole well collapses;
6- water will be stored in barrels and moved arround when extracted;
7- water can be used to make ice, put out fires or to mitigate droughts.

what do you guys think?

in the future it could also be used to fill a tub for settlers to shower....

My issue when people suggest adding water, as in fluid 'blocks' that will flow in rivers and moats, is 1) fluid mechanics are hard to implement, and I'd rather time be spent on other things, and 2) it would be a NIGHTMARE digging around. I already mess up mining and get collapses; now imagine a mine collapsing and flooding...yikes.

That being said, I think your suggestions are the best way to implement water in the game. I personally don't think water is necessary, but if it does get added, this is the way to go.

yeah that was my idea, this way we get to use water and skip the bothersome part of fluid dinamics development...it will probaly satisfy people and they will stop nagging about it
