In the United States, hailstorms in the spring and summer are common with severe storms.

I've seen softball sized hail when it was in the 80s (25-30C). Often tornadoes include such large stones.

Snow and sleet is based on surface level temps, hail is not. Completely different phenomenon.

Yea in Manitoba we will most commonly get hail in the types of weather that form severe thunder storms / plow winds, they really aren't uncommon across lots of summer.

That ♥♥♥♥♥ is no joke. One time I was in Canada, the hail was the size of spuds. Big ones. Lucky I was sheltered under a tree or I'd have been pummeled.
