Befriending a faction
So i've been trying to befriend one faction close to me, ive been gifting them a ton of food but their alignment does not seem to go over 40%
Any idea why that is?

UPDATE: It works now, i havent done anything to the game, didnt verify files or anything my guess is the recent update did it

Are you trading with factions that are opposed to the one with whom you are trying to become friendly? If you trade with opposing factions, it will negatively affect the friendliness of the faction you are trying to increase as well.

No, i thought it was because i was neutral with their enemy faction so i pissed them off but that didnt have any effect

do you use mods?
maybe ones interfering
if so you'll need to turn them off and attempt a trade after each one re added

(my search fu is weak today but there was a folder that contained the mods and you could delete it and start fresh but i cant find a quote and ive not saved the path)

process
send a caravan out and just before it reaches pause caravan save exit add back a mod go in game carry on caravan>> trade if works exit next mod load up pre visit save and repeat and see if there's some conflict

it could just be a bug from the latest update have you sent a report? but ive not seen other posts (if players even noticed but if its wide spread id expect a couple)

if its sticking at 40 no higher does it go down? have you purposely dropped it lets say 6 points via a visiting trader (did the number change) then traded with the settlement and noted the faction raise number i think top left if its greater than what you lost or does it show a zero when you reach 40 faction or does it show after a trade +8 towards faction...re enter trade do a new trade again get +8 faction standing but stops at 40 and goes no higher?

wondering if its a visual bug but the games still tracking the real number

have you done a steam verify? it'll reset any lines you've edited (if you have been file diving) but will check that all the games files are in tact and it'll fix any faults it finds

if i remember the faction screen correctly are you dealing with the wolves i think there the only faction with 1 main enemy if so they tend for me at least to be the main attackers after a settler visit
this wallops the standing

visiting traders also damage faction

unsure if event visits affect the standing i don't bother with them

the factions used to be easy to get up (you could juggle afew at the same time ) and for some reason devs made it harder
are you trading food in winter?
are you straight up gifting or trading the food
i found if i took berries and bought random junk with the berries my standing went up better

it sounds like a mod or bug unless the dev viewed food dumping as a exploit and fixed it if your in the + side of the standing

id need to read the patch notes from the last update see if some line i over looked

edited to add
i just looked only thing i can see is

Made unrefined materials less valuable.

other thing is at the top of the notes there is a warning about mods not working if you do use them it might be worth checking on the ones via the steam workshop to see if theyve been updated

No mods or anything, the number does not go above 40 but goes down after time, i gift them food during winter but instead berries i do meals and its not just food cause i tried with beeswax, tallow and textiles and once its lets say at 38% it just does +2
Also the faction im trading with is called The Ancreme Disciples if that matters
I have not verified the files yet will try that later see if it helps

am i blind i don't see that faction (im tired)

now after looking at my games factions ( i am in this play thru just killing everything that appeared on my map) but i don't remember getting friendly it says 100 which is odd anyway (ive shot quite afew visiting clergy and traders)

it is a old save im carrying on so its possible my tables got destroyed in a raid but when i loaded in my research and area map was greyed out and i don't believe i have traded yet

but just to make sure (stupid questions time but gotta ask) your checking faction by hovering over the faction icon on the map for the number but have you checked the factions list? (which made me think maybe a visual bug) im assuming you are but just want to make sure ones not different to the other ie map says 40 but the faction list shows friendly

is this a old save and your carrying on or a fresh game since the update ?
now ive looked my old save looks iffy so just wondering

dunno if it'd do anything but destroy the cartography table and rebuild it see if it refreshes the map

have you reported it in game?

you can send a save to the devs i can find a quote with the details
see below

Saves are located here:

%userprofile%\appdata\locallow\Foxy Voxel\Going Medieval\VillageSaves

Find your settlement name in there and send us your latest save

If the files seem to big, you can use wetransfer or gdrive to pack it all up.
.

link the post and give them the bug report title but only do above if you find it annoying they might be able to tell you more on how to fix it
otherwise bug report and give it a hotfix or 2 to see if it gets fixed

my map looks iffy to me but i cant remember what stage i was at so i cant say for sure ive not got time currently to try trading to see faction increase but 2 seems low to me but maybe another poster that doing the task as part of there game session can make note and comment

it could be something simple like the devs renamed / moved files in this update and it messed up old saves maps
but
really by the time you unlock friendly to sell junk armour / weapons its pointless because your scrapping line is in full swing and your pumping out your own better weapons so your not really missing anything

:) i just noticed op you updated your original post

Glad you resolved the issue. Wanted to drop a small note here for the future incase someone else runs into this problem, that could have been a potential reason - there is also a maximum amount of friendliness you can have with a faction if you have prisoners from them.
