I havent held one either, but I assume you need Chaplain/Oak Priest, and then access via the Alter/Ring. Analogous to Bard and Feasts?

well im trying to do it when a priest is visiting. the game tells me to take advantage of his presence and hold an event...but not how.

you have to make a building that the game considers as a chapel. Just like making a kitchen, library, infirmary etc. Depending which church youre doing has different hard requirements to what furniture you can have inside said room

Ah, LyingHero has a point, I assumed by 'Shrine' you meant a religious room.

Here's a screenshot showing room requirements top left, and a Ritual Circle, in said room, with Hold Event button. Similar for Chapel.

Thank you for this, there's ZERO documentation or suggestions in game for this. This helped me figure out that bard events can also be initiated at tables in grand halls too. It'd be nice if they gave even a little hint that some furniture is more than just decoration or room requirements.
