Caravans are my worst nightmare
Hello everybody.

This is for the experimental branch - for obvious reasons.

I love to play with underground bases. That means, I have one entrance and thats it.
There are also many rooms that only have one exit and the paths between them are also only a single tile wide.
Now, what happens A LOT is that caravans arrive and try to get into my base. Because of some sort of collision (that seriously ♥♥♥♥♥ with other aspects as well btw imo) they stay close at the entrance for a long time.
This creates a problem in the game where my settles can't move through them and get stuck in the base or sometimes in rooms.

Now, that itself is annoying. But it seems to ♥♥♥♥ the system over even worse than you think. Why? Because a lot of times my settlers even refuse to move to their bedrooms even though they could - for some reason I honestly don't know.
The path is free, but they just fall asleep on the spot they are standing. Even drafting and releasing them to "reset" them seems to only work sometimes.
This problem has occured even when they are only close to the base and I have absolutely no idea why.

Am I the only person with this problem?
Any ideas to fix it - other the devs changing how the game works?

Greetings

Just gonna drop this here as it seems relevant. Ive noticed my people will do this, some sleeping all over despite the beds present when caravans are on map.

Usually, draft, wait a second and undraft fixes these little quirks, but not this specific one.

I am playing on the surface and noticed the caravans would head to the nearest campfire. If you don't have a campfire they might head to the bedroom. I placed multiple campfires as cheap targets in case trebuchets show up. All my settlers slept in beds without problems.

A room with a campfire near your underground base entrance might work. Make the room large enough to fit the entire caravan.

The trick with the campfires seems to work, thanks!

Edit: Nevermind. While they do work for the caravans not entering my base, my settlers still don't go to their beds for some stupid reason.

this is the kind of thing that should defo be reported when testing, so good job.
i wonder if having a caravan "trading post" would solve them wasting time trying to get into the base? sure its possibly exploitable for traps, so just make it so there cannot be objects surrounding the post and problem solved.

I sent a ingame report on this one. I have an above ground settlement, and if there is a caravan on the map, they refuse to sleep in their beds. Plenty of room to move around, so they are not getting stuck. They just plop down anywhere if the caravan is there.
