lag after 10 minutes, restart helps
My game started to lag 3/4 of a year in with just 6 villagers. I have turned settings down, v-synch off, capped the fps at 30, but the problem persists. I have a low end pc but this seems like something else. Game runs smooth for 10 minutes, then starts lagging. When I reload it is smooth again. Because many people complain about this, especially after the water update, I assume it is bad optimization. Any thoughts or shared experience is welcome.

slow fps
Hello, for a long time even having a 2070super, the game runs at an average of 18fps less while paused. Since the water update, let's not even talk about it. When are they going to remedy the poor performance of such a simple game? P.S; I've been playing for 190 hours, I need extra performance to continue enjoying it. thank you.

If a dev reads this: right before the 6th villager joined, it started to lag again. Autumn day 7.
I started a new map, small, and everything was smooth untill then.

Same here.

5th villager joined. FPS drop and lag...

Same here, but only if I speed up the game, the FPS drop to 1 every 3-5 seconds.
Tried to change / lower the graphic settings, yet FPS drops still happen, and I think it's not from my laptop spec, because I still can run other heavier game with max setting with no problem. I think something from latest update need to be optimized.

My game started to lag as well. I have a new system with 64 GB RAM and a 4080 Super + Ryzen 7950 3D on a M2 SSD.

My settlement is rather small and and has 7 or 8 people. It is not really a fps drop as I get 100fps+ but every half a second the game stutters and seems to halt for just a few ms. Every movement of my settlers looks janky now. The camera movement stutters as well, even when the game is paused. Surely something is wrong here.

@devs send you a report via F10.

It is a shame, I really enjoyed the game so far but this puts me off. It lags right from the loading of the save. I tried the experimental branch to no avail. Tried v-sync on and off, framerate cap at 60 and 30, turning down graphics but nothing helps.

Maybe a longshot, but have you guys tried removing the cartography table? Every since I did I have been playing pretty lagfree, with 7 villagers now. I don't understand it but I can't think of anything else I did differently now.

I actually just built that. The timeline fits for my game.

I tried to set the refresh rate in NVidia CP to my monitors and turned the frame cap off in game. It seems to have done it despite the table.

I will try further...

Interesting. Maybe others can chip in as well. Anyhow glad you found another way too.

Hey folks, I'd need more info.

Like the OP said, turning V-sync off and capping framerate to 30 should improve the experience.

If that is not happening and you have the necessary system requirements then it is serious. Especially if you have 5-8 settlers. Lag should not happen there.

I guess it may occur in massive settlements that have bajilion resources/production buildings/animals, but if it's settlement of small to medium size - that's an issue.

I need more info from your side - after how much time it occurs (at least one of you reports that it occurs after 10min which is weird but still, good to know). Deconstructing cartography? Never heard of that relation to fps. Are settlers hunting by any chance? There are few reports of fps dropping while settlers hunt animals with bows and arrows. Do cancel all of hunting and let me know if the fps improves.

I loaded a bunch of lag reports, but I don't get the lag. So maybe reloading the save fixes it? There definitely is some bug here but it's hard to figure out what exactly is causing it.

When you F10 the report, I'd appreciate if you remember the name of the report here as we get hundreds of those every day, and we don't get your names with reports so it's sometimes hard to track the issue and get more info.

If you'd like direct communication with us, you can send us your saves to contact@foxyvoxel.io and we'll get back to you.

holy crap, what happened ? The performance has clearly tanked in this game. I'm not sure why the Dev is acting like they don't know about it. I have tried everything. Max graphics, low graphics, capped frames. The whole game starts with micro stuttering\hiccups after having a village going for a while. Restart helps, but only for about 5 minutes.
petrakid May 25, 2024 @ 4:29am
My lag comes when hunters shoot arrows. No other times. Been this way for a while.
briskke May 25, 2024 @ 10:33am
I am also getting the stuttering ever second or so even with all the shadows turned to low and just 6 settlers
using 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K 3.00 GHz with nvidia geforce rtx 4090

I can run Factorio with over 30000 drones :)

Update: I changed the resolution to default for monitor/card and been playing for about 45 min on that and only stutter is when settler enter/exit building

My lags starts after 2-45 minutes. FPS drops starts after 5 minutes. Latest drivers 12 setllers 20-25 pets. I am trying to kill animals on the map that helps till they come back. maybe an hour.

That stutters and drops happen only in that one game.

FPS cap works for few minutes
Switching off v sync doesnt work for me

Latest Drivers
AMD 3600
RTX 3080
32 GB ram
Game installed on nvme

Cpu usage 50-60%
Gpu 20-30%

Last 5 months i send 20-30 reports. I think. Almost every week i was sending reports. (sometimes game crashes when i was sending report) few times reports was send automatically when game wont turn on from main menu.

Sometimes i am thinking you never receive my reports :(

Good luck searching what cause problems...
If i can help anyway i will do my best.
