Vertical snapping thing?
A lot of the time after I move the camera to let me see what I need to build properly the camera snaps vertically one tile. Either up or down, I haven't figured out why it does it so I don't know if there is something I have set wrong. Anyone know how to stop this?
It moves maybe 1/4 - 1/2 a second after I stop moving the camera and it's just long enough for me to think it's not going to happen and click to place it and then it does it and I have missed my target.
Really getting annoying and I can't imagine many would put up with this so it's got to be something obvious I am missing.

You probably want to adjust coyote time. More about it in the camera segment here:

Coyote time setting under camera settings but i cant find a way to turn it off.

I think I kind of get it.
The camera maintains a set distance above the terrain. Be it a building or the ground.
This adjusts the time before it drops or raises when you move it over a different height.

I would kind of like it to maintain the distance I set it at regardless of the exact height it is above terrain so I gotta fiddle more.

edit - slider all the way to the right gives it a few seconds. But yeah off would be nice.

Cheers. I got it a lot better but in all honesty an option just to turn it off entirely would be nice. I am happy to adjust my camera height myself.

Have you tried to check "legacy mode"? It reads like that switches coyote time off.

Yeah and no.
It sets it back to the original way it was.
Coyote mode was put in to tweak the way the original camera worked so while it does actually stop the delay it still bounces the camera around badly.
I just want it to stay at the height I set it at and ignore the height of anything underneath. I can move it as needed.

Coyote can get rid of the delay that was bothering me in the first fraction of a second but now it happens after a few seconds. While it doesn't catch me as often and it usually gives me enough time to place something before it shifts height it's still just annoying to have it happen at all. I honestly don't see any appeal in the idea.

It's now better than it was for me at least.

yeah i do not like it at all as well, i am used to use ctrl and to manipulate the height myself
now often it switches when i am building something or want to dig and click on wrong tiles

I can see a use for it and as an option it would be fine but not having the ability to disable it is a little odd.

My preferred one would be this:
when i move around it stays at the same level - meaning it does not go down and up if i move over building or a hole (like legacy camera is jarring because its stays same level relative to the ground)

and than I regulate it manually up and down

No one like this "feature" it is very annoying. People ask to turn off this camera terrain based jumping from 2021. Developers added ability to ignore buildings, added ability to delay this jumping, but for some reason - refuse or can't add ability to turn this off.

Ahh OK. It's something they really like personally then. Just determined to figure a way to make it work I guess. Cheers.

This is the only game I know of that uses coyote time to refer to a camera mechanic. I wish they would stop trying to reinvent the wheel and hang the camera from the sky already.

They *really* seem to have a hard-on for their ♥♥♥♥♥ wucky camera system- and for a game that has players digging holes straight down.

I finally tried out the alternate camera view and hated it as much as I figured I would. It is pretty much entirely useless for building. The delay is somehow even more frustrating because I think the camera is in the spot I want it to be and then *shift* it's off center and I need to try and relocate the camera back into the spot I wanted it. I reverted back to the legacy camera after just a few minutes so I could at least deal with the devil I know.

Since the devs seem happy with their choice, my hope is that when modding is finally introduced, someone will make a fixed camera mod option for players to use. I suspect it would be one of the more frequently downloaded mods.

Thankyou for your time. I agree.
No matter how you set the delay it is almost definitely going to shift at an inopportune time. Maybe not every time and the longest delay helps but it will get you.
