Trying to find clay up in the mountains?
I chose a mountain biome for a new game of mine.

I can't seem to find any clay deposits and now my few villagers are beginning to make things that require clay as a building material?

Do some mountain biome seed maps have no clay?

Clay seems kind of a basic material one needs for a variety of things. I didn't expect to find much in this environment my village currently is in but to find nothing feels weird to me too?

Can anyone tell me where I should look to find some clay or can I just wait for traders and hope one has some of that material on them?

There is no clay in mountain maps in general.
Traders / other settlements have clay as well as bricks.

And generally you don't need clay, pretty much everything using it (brazier, kiln etc) has a second (or more) options using other materials (often limestone is an option).
In mountains you have a lot of limestone just lying around the map at start, I recommend using it as primary building material at least at start.
I usually only import clay and bricks for some decoration on plazas and the like way later on mountain maps.
