You have a relatively small number of people (caps out at about 22-24), and a fair amount of direct control over them. You need to build living and working areas (which is done entirely free-form, no prefabs) and furnish them with beds, crafting stations, etc. You need to set your colonist's jobs and schedules and manage food and resources. Some activities can be automated (e.g., farming, crafting) and some require you to issue orders each time (e.g,, mining and building). You can only have one settlement, and (currently) you can't attack or conquer your neighbors, but you can send out trade caravans to buy or sell stuff from them, and merchants will periodically visit your settlement.
By default, your colony will periodically get raided, and will need to build defenses and train your people in combat; however, you can play in Peaceful mode if you don't want to deal with them (or just turn off trebuchets, which makes the raids less dangerous and makes it possible to handle them with a more defensive strategy). There are options to customize individual settlers and to design custom starting conditions for new games. Currently, there is no overarching goal besides "build a prosperous colony with good defenses and keep your people happy".
Overall I recommend it, although the later-game raids can be a pain to deal with, especially if you leave trebuchets enabled.
Easier Rimworld with less things happening and game being little more predictable. And there are no interactions between characters as they are in Rimworld. So your settlers will not kill each other in a cat brawl and generally they dont seem to hate each other. Rimworld is more about storytelling and interactions, Going medieval is more about building actual buildings.
water is interesting but may be caused a big load to CPU as well(as each character interact with water in real-time isn't easy unlike non RTS game such as minecraft!!!(the affect on GPU load are common knowledge) both fire and water are big load and can cause some players to say good bye to the game in low spec PC as well.
PS. It's feel like some people try to mislead the game and compare the game to be rim world ???and most of them are always blamed or discredit the game. I suspect that were these marketing?
hope there will be school or other several system to develop characters to rebuild heroes in the future!! ex some perks can be transfer in some factions/occupation/skill level unlock like church, athlete ,Cannibalism etc...
