hauling sucks balls
It would be great if settlers would haul max loads instead of a single seed when there is several other items nearby needing to be stockpiled

I just wish when someone harvested something they'd carry it back..

That being said, if you have access to a cow, donkey, or dog you can train them as pets and set them to hauling duty where they'll pick up anything and everything. Just make sure the stockpile is available via walking (ie: not ladders).

Yea hauling pets help alot, but they still have the same problem as mentioned above, they always only carry one type of item and if there is just one of those they run back carrying just that one thing leaving other stuff on the ground, even though they would theoretically have more carrying capacity.

does the cat have a use. I had to kill mine as it was eating my food supplies int he winter. Cat burgers just don't do it for me. Hot dogs are much better.

the thing that gets me is when the settler goes from where they are working clear across the map to do something else and not just turn and work the item or task right next to them.

Makes for a high level of mircro management that is anoying.

They can help fighting pests.

Yea but dogs can do that too, I found cats to be pretty useless, usually ignore em if they are wild and if they come on the map tamed, I just sell em to the next merchant.

Set the hauling and stewarding to (respectively) 4 and 5. This forces them to haul resources after finishing their main task. If you combine this with satellite storage facilities, you'll find hauling VERY efficient.
Just be careful of over working them. This will make them take a long time before getting to the hauling part.
