Animal pen

So I keep losing all my goats to wolves and despite making a little pen area with a barn and feeders I can't get them to stay inside, when trying to rope them the game tells me there is no appropriate pen for them. is this a bug or am I missing something?

Sometimes you need to move the penmarker for it to work again. They will start roping in the animals asap after that.

Fences I only use to keep them from eating crops and apple trees. I recommend to just build a wooden wall surrounding the animals. If you have a hilly environment I use a lower level, remove all slopes but one and just block that off with one door and one wooden wall piece. Very efficient in use of material.
