About the Hunting Problem...
I have set a Target animal for the settler and set as below :
Hunting = Priority 【1】
Transport = Priority 【2】

However, they keep go for transport resource. Won't go hunting.

Fortunately, they go hunting but they won't pick up the dead animal.

Could fix this hunting problem?? or how to avoid it?

I have a large storage space.
The settler just kill the animals then go for another jobs.
Won't pick up the dead animal.

I tried to enable "Hunting" and "Transport" 2 jobs only.
Hunting = Priority 【1】
Transport = Priority 【2】
The settler just kill the animals, then go back to stronghold and transport resource.

Same...

If set Transport to 【1】, the settler won't take the initiative to hunt. Most of time in resource transportation.

It seems like settler cut down the tree, but they won't pick up the wood back to stronghold.

People doing hunting/logging/farming jobs will not automatically haul the item they just created, because even if they switch to a haul task next, they will typically choose either the highest-priority haul task, or the oldest active haul task (since by default they work through tasks in the order they were created). From a player's perspective, it would be nice if hunting etc. chained directly into a haul task targeted to the item just created, but from a programming point of view, it's complicated to set up in a way that won't cause other problems.

If you want them to bring the item back immediately, the best way is to select them and manually order them to haul it,

About the highest-priority...

If stronghold have a lot of resource, they won't go and pick the dead animal. It may too far for the other settler. The transport AI seems pick up the nearest resource, which needs on their job.

I think the Hunting AI is not make sense now.
1) Have target animal, but they won't go hunting. Even Hunting = 【1】
2) Hunter kill the prey, then go back to stronghold and call other settler to pick it up? It doesn't make sense right?

Tree cutting AI, it should be fine.
Settler will keep cutting and other settler convey to stronghold.

I think the Hunting AI logic need to more reality.
Kill the prey and pick up to stronghold storage.
Not just copy as "Tree cutting" AI.

Morbious is right. In practice, settlers should haul the carcass that they've hunted.

I've been testing some saves/reports - and in some cases, there is weird behavior.

Some are not an issue as settlers will have to fulfill their needs before they continue to hunt. Some are prevented by their schedule [leisure time], and some are simply obstructed by storage setting/settlement design.

There are some instances where after some hunting, settlers will decide to simply change the target, even though the animal they've been hunting isn't killed yet.

Still looking into it. Will update you when I figure out the issue.

Is there any update on this? I just got the game a few days ago and its so frustrating... My settelers are starving, yet - the wild animals eat all the hunted game. Tasks are 1 Hund 2 transport.

I've locked the thread as it is pretty dated. There should be no issue with the current system. Please make a new thread here if you think it's needed. Maybe some other players may give better insight to your issue.

Regarding your issue, I suggest that the carcasses of hunted animals be transported to some location where wild animals can't reach it. There is also an urgent haul tool to make your commands easier.

You can also f10 the issue and sign it with your steam name so I can look at it and see if there is any problem. But i'll look at it on Monday. cheers!
