Coin Smelting

Do we know if the ability to smelt gold coins is a future feature or are coins purposefully only gathered through trading?

I have mountains of gold bars and would love to have my stash turned in to coins.

I can keep sending caravans of gold to all my neighbours but would love to mint inhouse

The money update came with the ability to turn coins into ingots but not the other way around, so I suspect that making your own coinage is not going to be allowed in the future either.

Have a look under the Notes for Update;

Coins can not be produced, only acquired through trading
Coins always have a value of 1 and never change when bartering like other resources do.
Almost all Merchants have some amount of coin

Yea, I read the notes. I was curious if the no making your own coins was a temporary thing for current balance reasons or a permanent thing.

Can understand, all good.

Personally I'd like to see old currency in silver, AND allow us to make our own for trading.
Compare each settlement for conversion or market value of our coins too

I hope there will be silver coins and copper coins in the future. All commodities will be valued in gold coins. It seems that some commodities are overvalued.

I hope that in the future, players can use a certain method (for example: a currency making workbench) to make metal ingots into currency, instead of simply using a furnace to smelt currency into metal ingots like now.
