Also, just fyi, animals don't need heating in winter. Just some covering (roof).
Yes, replaced barn door with ordinary one kept open and now OK.
Animals may be fine in cold-snap temperatures with just a roof but that could become more realistic (deep-frozen chickens?) in future game updates.
The reason I have a warm winter "barn" is more because of my settlers. In winter the barn is full of non-hauling animals (sheep, chickens, bunnies in my case) who don't mind resting on stockpiles of wood and suchlike. My settlers can spend time there harvesting etc.so I kindly warm the place a little. Probably unnecessary, but that's just me.
