Fences for example have a corner variant.
Just change the fence to a corner tile and rotate it until it fits.
In my case a build a 6x2(inside) house with a barn door and a pen marker inside. The error message is "must be in an enclosed area". It clearly is, it even has a roof. So what is the error? Sloppy development..
Update: after searching on reddit: "a barn door cannot create a pen."
exactly. animals can pass through barn doors therefore they don't count and an enclosure.
I build a little barn with barn doors, then fence around it on three sides with a gate. I put my pen marker just inside the gate.
1. shouldn't be really a surprise that a door that clearly states in its description that it can't stop wandering animals is not fit to make an enclosure to hold in animals
2. dogs can't be held in a pen... check a pen-marker it has the option for any animal that can be held in a pen, dogs aren't there.
All the best
