Newbie question on crop growing over winter
I have several crop fields set to automatically harvest and re-sow.

Barley multiplied nicely during the year (but then I forgot to stop the hearth cooker turning it into bread...).

Flax doing really well, redcurrant ditto.

But over winter crops apart from redcurrant disappeared completely - should I have harvested them before winter set in, even if not fully grown?

Or could there have been another reason (not blight!) for their disappearance?

Any help as usual most gratefully received.

I have started to use the don't sow option as I have had this happen to me while not having enough seeds to replant afterwards. In the winter there is usually a deep freeze which kills off all plants as well as increasing the stress on your villagers. I'm not sure if this is guaranteed every winter or could also happen in spring? I have also noticed villagers trying to replant in winter just to have this happen. I'm not sure why you would want to replant in the winter.

They freeze to dead even without the cold event. Only the red turnips survive winter.
1. Don't sow before winter unless they can be harvested in time. Some crops can be harvested early giving reduced yield.
2. Get a shelve or two only stuffed with barley and forbid the use. This will be your emergency fallback stock. But keep it cold 🥶
