Ice Blocks?
Are Ice blocks not fully implemented? I have a basement storage dug out as deep as I can go, the temperature in freezing cold winter is 28 degrees. I have no torches or brazers, I filled the storage with ice blocks, and it lowered it to 26 degrees. The temperature 3 floors up also with no fire but without ice blocks is 28 degrees, and outside is 2 degrees.

As far as I can tell, ice blocks give a fixed cooling effect in the room they are in, doesn't matter if there are 100 or 1 of them

Ice blocks work fine for me. I only dug 1 story below, but made sure i put doors on the room. Fully enclosed 8x8 room, 6 blocks of ice on the floor, stays around 1 C all year long.

Do you have man-made floors and walls in your cellar? Any material that provides insulation will make the room warmer. Also check in the room view overlay that no portion of the room extends above ground level.
