Is there a way to fill holes?
I'm currently digging a cellar for food storage and need to get down a few z levels under my main house. I've started outside and now there is just this hole. Question is, can i fill it back up or am I stuck with this eyesore? If yes, how? Thanks in advance.

I tend to just use clay walls. Clay has a tendency of taking up a lot of space once you dig around a little.

I'm using clay walls for now as well, but obvoisly they look out of place and don't fit. Screenshot for reference: https://prnt.sc/13oz7ta

Yes Dirt is needed so we can have a garden in the spot we dig up rather and just a floor or wall.

I mean, wood is renewable at least, so at the very least I would use wooden walls and then cover it with a floor. Yes it doesn't look as nice but I'd rather use that than a resource that is finite

Yeah, best option imo is to dig out 4 blocks along side your messhall/grand hall/kitchen for stairs and a door leading under the building. Best place I've found to build a cellar, just remember to floor it :P

Put your wood in the holes to fill it.

'Dirt' needs to be added to the resources. Once you have dug a hole to take out a resource, for those of us who have a need to 'make good', using wood, clay or another resource you've extracted to fill the hole is wasteful/counter-productive. Also, you could then turn old shallow mines into gardening plots
This is beginning to bug me

You can also build a path over it so it all looks the same. I can imagine a fill hole option coming, without the dirt resource at all. One, to save a resource pile. And two, to allow both raiders and players to use filling dirt holes as a way of invading over moats if the A.I. feels the player is bottlenecking them (on harder difficulties of course).

Yeah there's gotta be a way to fill the holes with dirt eventually. My ground is riddled with holes ,and I'm not using valuable resources to fill them up lol

looking forward to have this feature, my colony is on a flat map, I'll have to dig alot of holes near my colony to get limestone, clay and iron

My only concern would be my stockpiles and haulers ending up completely overwhelmed by gigantic piles of dirt that are only useful in filling up holes or arranging farm plots. I can also see a problem with a drain on system resources, As every dug up pile of dirt will end up existing as an object on the map, regardless if left out or stockpiled, and most likely wont decay under any circumstances.
