SE5 Complete Edition, or the SE Complete Collection?
Asking for quick opinions. I have just a few bucks left to splurge before the end of Winter Sale. Currently eyeing the SE series, and I'm wondering if I should either get the SE5 with the DLCs or the Complete Collection bundle instead (base games, 1 to 5)?

Looking up some opinions online, I've gathered that the DLCs, especially for the likes of SE4 onwards add a substantial amount to the game. Would you recommend only the base games?

Having played 2, 3, 4 (all DLC) and am playing 5, I can say the DLCs for 4 didn't add too much, just a few more missions if you think the game isn't long enough. The guns aren't necessary but add variety. Haven't gotten into the DLC's for 5 yet. I WILL say that I wouldn't recommend supporting a company that thinks using Denuvo is a good choice nor can I recommend supporting a company that builds the game and then cuts it into smaller chunks to sell "tiers" of access to the game in it's entirety or sells teh parts as 92 pieces of DLC (look at Zombie Army 4 if you need to see how scummy these devs are when it comes to DLC). There's no reason any should have that much DLC. It's greed on Rebelion's part. So, that said, I can neither recommend nor caution against them or these games. It's like buttered toast with your eggs. Take it or leave it (as long as you're OK with their business practices). Also, getting 1, 2 and 3 to run on current PCs can be tricky for some. I'd wait for the remasters to be done before I get the early installments. For me, SE1 doesn't even run at all in it's current state. SE5 still has bugs and, at this point, I wouldn't think they're going to bother to fix them.

The good and the bad are a wash.

Then again, if the sale is good enough, they might loose money on the sale so, there's that...

Totally disagree with above statement for SE4. The DLC's for that game were awesome, well designed and well worth the money. For SE5, the 5 DLC was more of the same, but at least one of them was very good. Overpriced however.

I do agree with the above statement that the pricing structure was greedy.

Ah, to think game devs spend 40 hours a week working out of the goodness of their hearts, all for you.

Is this what your government subsidized college diploma taught you on how the world works? You wasted you time. Go to work. DLC is great when you work and have tons of spare money. I wish more games had more DLC, keep it coming.

Best way in my experience is to get the full edition with DLC instead of the base game collection. I would suggest to start with SE3 and then move on to SE4 which these days are on sales for a very low price. SE2 remastered is also ok (in comparison to the newest ones).
