Confused about the user reviews

Im not quite sure if the negative reviews are from people who hate/dont like stealth games or if the devs messed up the stealth aspect in general. Also about the "linear" maps, can someone please tell me if its "stupid linear" map design or more like the linearity as we can find in Zombie Army 4? I really like stealth games, so that wouldnt be a problem for me.

if,, you to ask me... i'll say the stealth aspect is there on 13 of the 14 maps ;D

dont buy, this game is BROKEN and need to be fixed,
-too much bug exploiting cheaters ruin every session you try to have fun in MULITPLAYER,
-maps are not finished, graphic glitch on glitch on EACH map and bug exploiters shot you throug the wall BUG, from behind other covers WITHOUT hacks, not even showing themselves
- SCOPE BUG in MULTIPLAYER like from Hogwarth or other fantastic story where you can get RED MARK on target EVEN when YOU DONT HAVE VISUAL CONTACT with an enemy ( this SHALL NOT be copied from CAMPAIGN MODE at all in MULTIPLAYER.
- and the worst is BROKEN MOVEMENT BUG they abuse to cause SPINNING in unreal way, making very small cirlces not possible for any human, AND THIS CAN CAUSE MAJOR SLIDING bug.

If i know this all before i bought 4 months ago so called FINAL EDITION i would just go ask my friend to let me play CAMPAIGN only from his computer, and would NEVER BUY THIS
more i see REBELION DONT DO ANYTHING WITH FIXING THESE BUGS , NO UPDATES nothing !!!! thay DONT BLOCK BUG EXPLOITERS AND CHEATERS.

The single player aspect of this game is fine. Campaign and Solo Survival are where this game shines. The stealth is definitely there if you want to play the game like Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid (kind of). Or, you can go guns blazing like some crazy, drugged-up super soldier with a deathwish for all kinds of hilarious fun. Ignore the people that say that single player isn't any good. I don't know what their deal is. I've been playing this series since the second game, and brother, let me tell you, SE5 is worth it. DLC, too! Worth it!

I'm not into Sniper Elite multiplayer, tried it in the past, and it's just too slow and lethargic for me.

You can play as stealthy as you want with the right weapon / silenced , using sub sonic ammo , big maps

The only problem I've experienced using stealth is that the issue with enemies staying on alert indefinitely is all the worse if you use mostly stealth and only kill where you need to.

Most of the negative reviews I've seen come from people who don't like the direction the series is going. In previous Sniper Elite games you are essentially forced to rely on your sniper rifle. SE4 made secondary guns more powerful and accurate and their ammo more plentiful, and now SE5 took that further and you can basically rely on any type of gun you want. So that rubs older series fans the wrong way.

The negative reviews that I'm actually on board with are the ones calling out the obvious price gouging of the DLC. You used to get one nice Season pass that covered all DLC content. But now, ever since Strange Brigade, Rebellion has been giving out "Season Pass 1, Season Pass 2, and Season Pass 3. I think even with Zombie Army 4 still there is no deluxe edition on some consoles that let you have all DLC content for the price of a single "Season Pass." So that's downright scummy and worthy of intense negativity.

Rebellion in general is like a mouse pretending to be an elephant. What I mean by that is it makes decent games and used to charge decent prices. Now it charges an exorbitant premium price for games like SE5 and ZA4. These games are still alright, but they are NOT worth the price.

Look again at Zombie Army 4 Dead War as it stands right now. I am excluding the stupid individual cosmetic DLCs for this example.

Basic bundle is $49.99
This gets you 12 levels. Originally you would get 9 levels but Rebellion had a brief moment of sanity and bundled the 3 season pass 1 missions with it.

If you want all the levels you must pay $79.97 more or buy the complete package for 129.96
This gets you the remaining 8 levels.

Walk with me through the math:
Full game has 20 levels.

12 out of 20 levels costs $49.99

8 out of 20 levels costs $79.97

Buy 12 missions for 50 dollars. Buy 8 more for 80 dollars.
Stupid. STUPID STUPID STUPID.

but been more then 1 year exclusive to EPICgameStore /Rebellion /consol
and then entering Steam store,, and
have massive DLC content that's close impossible to get what be what
when u only want the mission maps and not a Giga load whatever skin's u dont need
(i can undestand it be oK cool buy some ,,when u play a co-op 4 players)

but still in general wouldent compare
Rebellions Zombie Army 4 Dead War (because thats caos),, with Sniper Elite 5

I get feeling there be a 3th part... doing the selling of the game...
because it follows the pathern sevral other aaa game does.....
lower the base game around a half year,, then on sales bit by bit on the %
like it be a formula..
BUT... i find that the Complete Edition, cost plenty more,, then
the Deluxe + Seasonpass 2,,, when it basicly is the same,,, to be speculative
and for someone in sales department to adjust that pronto ;D

(and me personally,,,i find most games to expensive this days Vs some years back)

it's fair to say SE 5 ,,, by standard SE 2 - 3 - 4
( in my view SE5 is more open,,, then any of those games/ versions )
alot will dissagree with that,,, but thats all good... ;D

and basicly u can stealth you way around on all mission map,, *(part from mission9)
and get what sidequest mission / main mission task in what order u want..
more or less plenty enough
but sure some path be that u have to follow to then open the very next etc...

OP if as you say you really like stealth then this is for you. Come and play chess with bullets. This obviously only pertains to the single player campaign, sorry but the notion of stealth in multiplayer is utterly lost on me. You may well read that 5 is not a good game, this is not true. It's just that it's being compared to it's predecessors and 3 and 4 were just straight up better, by some margin in fact. Combine this with how long we all had to wait for 5 and there's a lot of disgruntled snipers out there, but judge it on it's own merits and 5 is still a good campaign.
Just one other thing to note, if you get this game then I'd suggest turning off invasions in the settings, or not, each to there own I guess. Personally I think whoever came up with the idea of being able to invite someone into our single player stealth campaign to hunt us down and screw up our progress needs to be placed in some crosshairs.
Buy it, 3 and 4 too if you can, you'll have fun.

After 1, 2, 3 and 4 i got me 5 now. Its pretty big tho, i need to decide what to delete, to get this installed. :)
