AP bullets are a must if you are wanting to destroy scout cars or tanks, and are very useful for killing a truck full of troops with one shot. Using a Kar98k with max power I only need a few AP bullets. They can also be useful when enemies such as snipers are crouching down behind a balcony like in the Unwanted Guests map. SUPER PROTIP: AP bullets can even shoot through walls. If you're in a house and use sniper sense or whatever it's called to "see" a bunch of troopers on the floor above or below you, just shoot them through the floor or ceiling! I've even shot soldiers through stone walls.
Soft point bullets are super useful against jager troops, officers and snipers. These enemies all usually require two hits from normal bullets to die with my super kar98k, especially in later levels where they seem to get more health. With soft point bullets it's always a one-shot kill. I usually save them up until the last couple of rounds of survival when you get a bunch of jager troops swarming at you.
I've been using the trench gun a lot lately, it's a bit silly but if you're aggressive with it it's a very good weapon. It's piercing slugs are great at quickly killing a scout car or a tank, and the rifled soft slugs are good against soldiers. Kinda wish there was a way to get more of these throughout the game, but the 20 of each that I bring into battle usually do the trick.
Never really messed around with subsonic or match bullets, AP and SP are just too good.
Since we HAVE suppressors, Subsonic ammo (to me) is moot.
I tend to try and focus on stealth/Non-Lethal runs as well, so my actual use of ammo is generally limited which (almost usually) fits within the constraints of the limited Special Ammo; especially non-lethal ammo since it's much scarcer than the other types.
Very interesting
