what's up with the bullet drop in this game?
im no stranger to this mechanic but it seems ridiculious here. realistically (or other games with good bullet drop) - an enemy that is about 200 meters away only needs the crosshairs to be slightly above his forehead to hit their face.
but in this game i constantly missed to the point that i turned on the bullet drop indicator and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ - SEVERAL INCHES above the enemies whole head are requiered to hit them.
wtf? i thought the game is supposed to be realistic!

is the main game's sniper rifle just intentionally ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because its silent or some crap or does the bullet drop mechanic really suck?

It depends on the weapons you're using. it's pretty realistic in terms of bullet drop. You just need the right gun.

i used the sniper rifle you get in the start of a mission - the wierd pump action one.

Think it's the weapon's muzzle velocity. If rifle's muzzle velocity is too low or even let's say below 600m, that's where the bullet drop becomes more of a challenge over long distances or even within mid range

When you get the Springfield, just stick with that. It's a rail gun. Even with subsonics, though I typically don't bother with those.

Also, bullet drop is a little exaggerated for the purposes of gameplay. The drop from my experience with actual Mausers, Enfields, etc. all fire a lot flatter. But, you have to differ the rifles some how.

Are you actually adjusting the scope to the proper distance of your target?
wow who would have thought that weapons from 1940 have low muzzle velocity and are more influenced by gravity "shocking"

most ammunition used today is the same ammo used back then, with the exception of copper jacketing on pistol caliber rounds now. also manual action weapons have a higher muzzle velocity than gas actioned guns like automatics. so... these older guns were on average more powerful.

#JolyJew, when I played the game for some hours I tried to adjust my settings for the scopes but found that when the game installed it did not assign those buttons (KB + mouse) in my install. I had to go in and do it myself. You might check that for your install and see if it happened to you too.

Once you are in the game go to the OPTIONS menu and click on the CONTROLS tab. Then select KEYBOARD BINDINGS. If you scroll down to the SHOOTING section you will see two options for this:
- Increase Scope Zeroing
- Decrease Scope Zeroing

I had to manually set those options. I used "O" and "P" since those don't interfere with any other of my gameplay.

Now when you are in-game and you are using the rifle scope (aimed) you can tap one of those buttons to change the distance that the scope zeroes. This will accommodate your bullet drop and center the zeroing line bullet drop to that distance. The default I believe is 50 meters.

Note that some weapons (as stated above) have massive bullet drop compared to others. You can check this yourself by comparing it for a couple rifles: for example the Win & Co. rifle versus a K98. The K98 (set to high power) zeroes much better at long distances.

Also, if you take a long shot then quickly go to your binoculars to look at the shot you can usually see the bullet trail, unless you are using silent ammo which in my experience doesn't show the bullet trail for some odd reason.

subsonic ammunition doesnt break the sound barrier, so no vapor trail

Nice try, and so what. Has nothing whatsoever to do with the OP's question. Trolling.

its explaining why the subsonic ammunition wouldn't have a trail to see which way the bullet was going. its a real life explanation. if anyone is trolling its your reddittor reply.

Redditor? Who's that? No idea what you're talking about. BTW if you are referring to me, troll, I don't use Reddit. But apparently you do, so guessing it's still trolling on your part. No need for you to continue to derail this topic. I provided an answer, go elsewhere.

Regarding bullet drop, you need to consider several factors when selecting components to mod your weapons. If you pay attention, you'll note that several components have a direct impact on muzzle velocity, which goes directly to determining trajectory drop over longer distances, albeit with a cost in noise generation and recoil. When you customize your weapons to reduce bullet drop and increase muzzle velocity, the weapon report is audible over greater ranges, and the weapon has a stronger kick. Weapon component selection is not cosmetic...except for the skin selected, which has no effect on weapon performance.
