Controller(s) Not Working
Tried a wired and wireless Xbox One and PS4 controller, the game only gives me instructions with keyboard and mouse settings, controller layout setting is greyed out, I can shoot, aim, crouch, but I can't move in game nor in the menu options.

I have downloaded x360ce and DS4 Windows, getting frustrated. I booted it on the Xbox app just fine but the issue is my son uses my Xbox account, so if he wants to play I have to get off - this is why I want Sniper Elite 5 on steam.

Any advice please?

A wired Xbox One controller should work straight out the box - If you eventually get it working I'd like to hear your thoughts.

As for the others? I really can't say at this point as it's been ten years since I started using an xbox controller, (wired only, here), due to compatibility issues and/or general faffing about - which has never been an issue since.

Does the controller Show up and operate properly in your Windows Control Panel/Devices and Printers Menu? Does it work without issue on other games?

Steam recently broadened the support available for Playstation Controllers - I don't know the finer details. But Supported Controllers can be configured either in the Big Picture Mode, Menu, (You had to open Big Picture Mode before - to set up controller support in the past - It wasn't necessary beyond set-up). Or on the Library page - where you hit Start to play a game.

If it doesn't work from there - look on you tube - Steam Big Picture Controller Set up or something to that effect.

The configuration menu itself is pretty straight forward - It's actually very good - but do take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with it.

Emulators such as x360ce/JoyToKey etc. Do also work on Steam games, but aren't necessary if the game has controller support - You don't want to be running se5 through an emulator for instance.

An icon to enter Big Picture Mode can be found Top Right on your steam Page between your account username and the x out button - or under the view tab (top left of the same page).

I think that about covers it? I guess if you have any questions? Feel free to ask.

Thanks for replying!

Controller layout is blank, and in game the controller layout setting is greyed out.
I can spin around, prone, fire, reload - but he can't forward, backwards, nor side to side.

You're right, it should be just plug and go - this is kinda annoying lol.

Have a look at this.

Also be aware that you may have to be on the beach before the movement works properly.
