Why is clicking your mouse twice so frustrating but pressing your keyboard 1200+ times isn't?
Imagine how many games you could have started with the same amount of clicks ;)
"X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sniper Elite 5\bin\Sniper5_dx12.exe" %command%
If you want to use vulkan, change dx12 to vulkan
"X" is the hard disk where you install the game, the actual path will vary from player to player, so the above path is for reference only.
(This method only works in single player mode.)
If you encounter the same situation in other games in the future, you can try to do the same. But you need to find the location of the exe.
Recently, I found myself in a situation where starting my game required an extra click on the Steam application, which has left me very dissatisfied. Previously, all I had to do was click once on the game icon on my desktop, and the game would launch immediately, along with the unnecessary background opening of Steam. While opening of Steam didn't bother me much, as long as I could access my game in a single click, the latest update has introduced an infuriating change. Now, in order to open my game, I am forced to click a second time on the Steam application itself. WHY ???????????. I cannot fathom the reason behind this alteration unless it is a deliberate attempt to boost sales. However, instead of achieving any positive outcome, Steam has only managed to cause me frustration. I strongly implore you to reconsider this decision and revert to the previous functionality, or provide an option in the settings to open games directly from the desktop icon without any unnecessary steps. Going forward, I will always consider alternative game distributors such as the Windows Store or Epic Games Store over Steam. This unnecessary waste of my time has left me with no choice but to explore other options.
Sincerely,
Tadek Lewandowski.
I hope you won't disregard this message, as many of my friends on social media share the same sentiment as me.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the recent changes to the game launch process on Steam. Previously, all it took was a single click on the game icon on my desktop, and the game would start promptly, along with the unnecessary background opening of Steam. While the presence of Steam itself didn't bother me much, as long as I could access my game with ease, the latest update has introduced a frustrating alteration. Now, in order to open my game, I am compelled to click on the Steam application itself, adding an extra step to the process. I fail to comprehend the reasoning behind this change, unless it is a deliberate attempt to drive sales. However, instead of yielding any positive outcomes, Steam has only succeeded in causing unnecessary annoyance.
I strongly urge you to reconsider this decision and revert to the previous functionality or, at the very least, provide an option in the settings to directly open games from the desktop icon without any superfluous steps. As a result of this unnecessary waste of time, I am compelled to consider alternative game distributors like the Windows Store or Epic Games Store over Steam. I trust you will take my concerns into serious consideration.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Tadek Lewandowski
Please pass on my heart-felt commiserations to all your friends on social media who are also suffering because of this colossal and totally unacceptable problem.
EDIT - Just think of all the mouse clicks you could have made instead of typing the TWO posts you have made in this forum on this same subject.
and I get it and am right there with you. For 40ish years double click opened a program. now it opens a launcher that requires another click that brings you into another window that requires a click and from there if you are lucky you get the game menu, if not, its a rat maze to get there sometimes. A lot of games let you bypass some of this crap by directly shortcutting to the .exe file, but others are too integrated to do that. Its annoying, but apparently the temptation to spam a captive audience with ads about your other games or DLC and so forth via a 'launcher' is too tempting to pass up.
I think the ultimate "waste of time" is to write these long messages and post them here and expect that something's going to happen ;)
I have played a lot of games and own a lot of games across several different launchers and I have yet to experience a situation where a game required going through a "rats maze" to get to the main menu. Sometimes you get a menu that pops up after starting the game that you need to deal with (usually with a single click) but that is about as far as I have ever seen it go.
The 1 pop up menu screen that you have to click on once to get through when launching via steam is a 'rats maze' lmao wtf?
