I agree everyone can play how they want i guess this game and franchise has room enough for everyone to play how they wish.
It is very immersive and i can see how you would get lost in this after all were all chasing childhood / schoolboy fantasies.
I guess most of us do like to chase the thrills that this game offers, plodding along at a sedentary pace once held some appeal but we dare to venture into territory that i guess for some seems unfathomable . . . . . for now.
If you have never experienced the thrill of hunting someone down or having someone hunt you down other than the AI in this game, then I suggest you give it a try.
You never know you may (like the rest of us ) become addicted, sometimes the grass is greener on the other side where the rewards are equal to the peril, there seems to be so much that you have yet to unlock.
In the meantime enjoy the game mate its brilliant on whatever level you wanna play
dont mind the PC, woke, traditionalists who kinda miss the point of intelligent conversation, hide behind private profiles, and take everything personally and generally cram the boards with a twisted view of what is being discussed.
Typical left wing agenda . . . . spuriously infecting a thread to validate their sad little lives, sad really
How do we know there wasnt a black scottish female in the resistance, do we even care ?
Pretty silly of you to make some good points about the community making baseless complaints about the game, then randomly start making baseless complaints about "woke" in a game about shooting fascists.
In this game the armed branch of the resistance is depicted as constituted by 70% of women, and 60% of African people. This is totally false, and probably made by ignorance or laziness that shows a big lack of respect about the real people that fought in the resistance ranks back then. I understand that most of them have passed away, but this is not a reason to treat serious subjects without a minimum of care (if the developers don't like history, then why making a game based on a historical setting in the first place ?). I truly think that every media have a responsibility when they broach historical events (even if it is for entertainment). In the maquis, armed women were in the minority and rare (there were women in intel missions, but the French, like many western countries, were very macho back then, and weapons were a man thing), Africans much more uncommon (maybe two or three in the entire France, but that's like 0,0% something statistically). You need to keep in mind that demography back then wasn't the same than today, and immigration was more a thing between European countries (so in 1940's France there were more Italians, Polish, Spaniards, Germans, etc...). Do you think that it would be OK to portray the three kingdoms period (famous Chinese period) with vikings instead of Chinese ? A white Shaka Zulu instead of a black one ? Queen Victoria portrayed as an Inuit ? Muhammad portrayed as a Cherokee ? Indira Gandhi as a man ? Try doing this in some of these countries and you will see the reaction of the people even if it is for an entertainment product like a movie.
I'm not saying that in dystopian fictions this is not OK, but with a cultural product depicting an historical period in a realistic manner, this is not OK. And I think it's important to not endorse this kind of laziness/greed (cutting costs) and to value and respect the cultural legacy of every culture on earth. If not, it will only get worse and bring more division between humans.
Ok (and this is the last post im making on this subject)
The main reason for my post was simply to highlight issues that people like you have about "historical accuracy"
I say again its a game and not a factual documentary, people of our age have all got someone who served during that time, but it seems now that you have taken it upon yourself to use this platform to preach to the rest of us about how the devs are disrespecting those who fell in WW2
I say again ITS A GAME!!!!
Despite your attempt to rile me with historical statements you are simply in the minority here.
I suppose you might have a blast on an Assasins creed forum pointing out the negatives about that game or maybe Wolfenstein games there is a plethora of issues there for you to shout about,
For your information Hitlers only objective first and foremost was to rid the world of Communism, and I imagine that you in your spare time would be out on the streets ripping down statues and rewriting history sporting a BLM t shirt . . . .
Give it a rest mate we dont care for the politics we just wanna play our game without so called PC indoctrination
Well said mate i agree with you but sadly for some people they have a chip on their shoulder
This is not an excuse, a media like the video game industry, that have an enormous audience, have a big responsibility when talking about history.
Also no need to yell I'm not deaf so keep it civil please. I'm not judging your opinion or being condescending with you, so no need to be hostile. Obviously you don't care about this topic, but I care. My grand father is not so far away, and yes it hurts to see his history deformed like he never fought (Africans weren't the main force of the resistance, only a very few individuals were there, 0,01%).
This is not something that occurred thousand of years ago. It's a relatively recent event, and lot of us had grand fathers that were there.
I don't have a blast with Assassin's creed or Wolfenstein, those are science fiction games, so they do what they want with their fantasy world.
These are not comparable with a game advertised as a WWII game.
I know Hitler was fighting against communism at first, I don't see what this have to do with the topic we are discussing.
You're the one talking about politics not me. I don't care either about politics. No matter what your politic orientation is, I respect it as I respect different opinions and beliefs than mine.
Yes I understand your point on just playing a game without having headaches with serious topics, it's your right. I'm not criticizing your point, just trying to explain you mine (that it engage only my person. My opinion is not representative of others). I think that you can understand that having a great father in the maquis make this subject personal to me (if we were talking about the dark ages obviously that's too far and nobody have beloved closer relatives of that time). A great father is not a distant cousin, or something very far that we never heard of. It's a very close relative. So of course I care when we talk about his story and his fight. Respect to our elders and ancestors is important to me (like it is in a lot of cultures in the world).
For entertainment or not, when making a product about history, you have a responsibility in not telling non sense. This a question of respect and decency. If you're talking about the history of Italy, be respectful of the Italian people, if you're talking about France, be it with the French, etc...
If you're not happy with that, then don't make a game about something you don't respect and don't care. Do fantasy games, and you will have all the liberty you want.
sTiGgA, I'm not talking about SOE and that Charlie character. Rebellion is British, so that their turf. I'm talking about the French resistance. They were constituted with lot of individuals with very different opinions. There were civilians that only wanted to kick out the Germans (no matter their political beliefs). There were communist people that wanted to fight fascism. Also Spanish republicans (who lost the civil war) and were now helping in fighting against fascism too.
For what I know from my great father, and some tales of friends relatives, the British and Polish were often there. No record of black Polish or British though. In any case, that's a matter for those countries. If Polish and British are OK or don't care, good for them. That's their history.
Once again I'm not criticizing your point [TFA] *MiKe tHe BikE * UK™. You have the right to think what you think, I'm OK with it and I'm not trying to convince you of anything against your way of thinking. I perfectly understand that this topic can be very far for a lot of people, and be foreign. If some media product, that people like, was talking about the history of their relatives, maybe they would be more concerned with what it's depicted (or not, every person is different and can feel differently).
I did what I could to explain you my point. If something is not clear and you want more precisions to understand, just tell me. I will take the time to further develop. I'm often busy, but I will do what I can.
Have a nice day.
After being a bit of a veteran I suppose in debating current affairs/politics on other forums over the years, I got to the point where I often found debating pointless. I now tend to think that forums are not the best platform for some discussions.
PC games good. War bad.
You are literally ranting about politics and making things up and now trying to argue with people who don't want to argue with you. You are not saying anything useful or worthwhile about Sniper Elite 5.
