Multiplayer is broken on PC after last update.

Easy anti-cheat is broken on windows 11 after last updates. (either windows updates or game updates). Reinstalling does not help, integrity verification does not help. All attempts to re-install Easy Anti-Cheat fail. Various "fixes" published on the internet fail too. I hope there will be a patch in the next few years that fixes that. But for now no multiplayer for Windows 11 users.

I have win10 and I can not play either, because of some anti-cheat BS that I have never had to deal with before. Supposedly the solution is to go to some launcher that does not exist and change a setting that I don't remember ever having seen before in the past.

Yep that is about the cog icon on the splash screen when we start the game from Steam. however clicking on that icon just closes the splash screen (crashes the game). Re-installing the anti-cheat by running easyanticheat_eos_setup.exe in Sniper Elite 5 installation directory does not work. that installer just crashes on start, in any compatibility mode or as admin. There are other "fixes" none of them work.

I wanted to buy this game as a Xmass present to my Sniper Elite 4 friend. But I guess not. Since we can't play it in co-op.

I don't see any cog icon or splash screen when I start the game. I did verify files which didn't fix anything. Mine has not crashed. If the solution is anything to do with installing separate invasive software, I'm uninstalling the game and changing my review, as I will not purchase, play, or recommend any games that requires such, or separate launchers.
I got my money's worth. It was fun while it lasted.
I hope you and your friend can either find a solution or substitute. It sucks not being able to do things together because of technical problems.

by broken do you mean the scenarios aren't loading the game just sits there at 5%? that's what's happening to me right now when i'm trying to do co-op. the host computer can load the scenario but the people in the lobby can't. i can't seem to load into war factory but i can load into previous levels both solo and co-op. is that level just bugged right now?

Are you running an Anti Virus software if so it can flag the game`s exe file as a virus , add the file to the AV exemption list / white list ,
Actually you should see 2 splash screens the first one is the game`s splash screen then the second is the Easy Anti Cheat splash screen

No antivirus. Just standard windows defender. Nothing changed on the system except the updates from both Windows, Steam and Sniper Elite 5. After those updates no multiplayer for me. I can start the game via Easy Anti Cheat. There is an start_protected_game.exe file in the steam D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sniper Elite 5\ directory. It launches the game, but multiplayer does not work anyway. There are two three types of settings.json files with game IDs. One for that is there after the installation, and two for two different game executables. settings_dx12.json and settings_vulkan.json but only settings.json is used from what I gether. Regardless, neither work.

Your boot of the game is nothing like mine , i get the SE5 Splash screen first , that screen has the cog wheel for settings where you enable Easy Anti Cheat , when i click play on that splash screen i then get the Easy Anti Cheat screen Initialization then the game boots to the big Rebellion sign, you cannot play MP or Survival or Invasion without EAC On.

Try this , Get rid of your Desk Top Game start Icon , Verify game files as this could reinstall EAC , This is the directory to the Sniper Elite 5_dx12.exe , C: / Program Files (86) / Steam / SteamApps / Common / Sniper Elite 5 / Bin / Sniper Elite 5 _ dx12. exe , right click / chose send to / create desktop short cut , double clicking on that exe file should bring up the correct SE5 Splash screen on that Splash screen click on the Cog Wheel - settings and enable Easy Anti Cheat .

? Those are strange directories for game files they should not have " Steam Library " in the directory , this is the right directory C: / Program Files (86) / Steam / SteamApps / Common / Sniper Elite 5 / Bin / Sniper Elite 5 _ dx12. exe
If you can play in single player Campaign ? you can see other game options then and it`s ? the lack of EAC that`s the problem.
Did you nominate another Drive for steam games , have you got a Drive C as well.
The problem is surely at your end it`s not the game i think it`s the installation that is wrong.

Those are not strange directories. I have two drives on my computer. C: and D: It is quite normal to install things NOT on the OS drive. Always done that since 1996. And I never install any software on C: drive. Ever. Anyway. The multiplayer worked before the update.

Well i cannot see you getting it working without the installation being in the right place ie: in windows , with the exe file being C: / Program Files (86) / Steam / SteamApps / Common / Sniper Elite 5 / Bin / Sniper Elite 5 _ dx12. exe ,
As regards soft ware on C: well i do not see the problem , i have music writing software, game video recording / desktop recording, open office, all purchsed

Installation directory is irrelevant. Telling you that as a senior software developer with three decades experience. Nobody hard-cods the paths. not even first year collage students. Multiplayer was working before the update, stopped after. It is not a path problem. Folks at Rebellion might made a mistake, but they are not that stupid.
