the migrating lobby needs to come to an end.
I can see why the player count died put the constant host has left so the game ends or migrating lobby is really really really annoying and time wasting and consuming. Why didnt they go with dedicated servers?

Well, servers cost money, their operation and maintenance as well, so why should the devs bother to put this money in to provide a good playing experience to the player base when they can develop a crappy solution that ruines everyones experience? Simple business decision on their side.

Dedicated servers in SE4 were owned by clans or individuals , Rebellion have not made comment about Dedicated servers for SE5 , Server cost Rebellion nothing and a decent one for SE4 costs about $10 a month
SE4 Dedicated server go to top of steam page / view / servers / set the filter at the bottom to Sniper Elite 4, there`s about 20 left some are never populated

So if it's totally free for them, they implemented the current system for SE5 because they thought it would be working so great. So I am not sure what to think whether Rebellion is just cheap or suffers from deep loss of reality.

Something that annoys me is that if I am the host of a survival game then everything is fine, but if I join someone else's game, there's a lot of lag every time I hit an enemy, like a delay between hitting the enemy and the hit registering. I constantly keep getting shot up by a dead enemy because there's a delay between them getting shot and them dying. I wonder if changing the servers would help with this, I've never seen this happen so frequently in other online games.

It is probably because you are connected to a Host who is hundreds if not thousands of miles away and it is cross platform, the better the internet connection the host has the better it is for the players ,Dedicated servers are not for Survival they were on SE4 for MP

They created a major problem for them selves in that they made the game cross platform , Dedicated server admin tools Recon , for keeping hackers out and banning them are mostly based on steam profiles , console players have not got a steam profiles.

Good question. Perhaps Rebellion would like to comment. We're back playing SE4 or other franchises, 40-50 people who played almost daily now not on SE5 and that is replicated all over the groups. Reb teased servers but does anyone really think they're coming? Shame.

Using PW protection on a dedicated server solves this. Didn't that exist in SE4 servers? I use PW protection on my own dedicated servers for other games, no problems arise.

The Recon tool for SE4 Dedicated servers went down and Rebellion did not fix it , but there is a Clan player or two who can and did create a new Recon for SE4 and i can tell you it does several things ,

Depends on the game, the resources swapped between players and your internet connection. Refreshing HD isn't the issue as I suspect local maps are used, but keeping up with multiple people on all different connections instantly is very difficult. This is all in real time and while some stuff is processed client-side, the rest is done on player's machines and having a dedicated server likely wouldn't alter this aspect of it. And as for servers costing nothing, people are mistaken if they think someone can just host a huge number of players on a simple Windows machine and have it all connected by a big fat data pipe for zero cost - someone has to pay for it.
