I did enjoy going around the castle and finding other ways in, and there seems to be plenty of space to have different types of engagements which is what I look for in this game. If I want a more cqb/ironsight rifleman experience the landscapes and the sections of the castle suits it nicely, along with the traditional stalk and snipe gameplay.
I will say however there is one section in the castle that seems utterly broken and it's the small section with grass with a bit of broken wall that you can crawl through.
I play on authentic and went through the map very slowly so I got to enjoy alot of the sights. Next time I go through it will have to be with ironsights with the lee no.4.
I wanted to find a vantage point for sniping, so I walked up to the castle. I cleared it (almost) and climbed to the highest point, and then found out that the walls were so damn tall that I could only shoot through small gaps. Just like the maps in the campaign, lots of walls are just high enough blocking you from sniping. Dunno why the dev make this decision. I think in SE3 and SE4 if you got on these kind of towers, you usually got a 360 degrees view for easy sniping. (Like the castle in the monastery stage of SE4.)
Maybe I am wrong, since I just played a little bit. Maybe there are good vantage points in this map waiting for me to discover. The visuals are cool though.
On the other hand, the hostile density is atrociously low. You could triple the amount of hostiles on this map and it would still feel on the low end. Rubble and Ruin which is not only a smaller map (if you exclude the sub pen portion) but has a ridiculously high density of hostiles, and Spy Academy (Beaumont-Saint-Denis) was about perfect for hostile density to map size.
What's truly aggravating me, is the absolute LACK of tools, or places to use them. I have found exactly ONE bolt-cutter on the Conqueror map (default spawn location Allied camp, next to the mechanic working on a Sherman), and only TWO crowbars (one in the castle not far from General Konig and one near the fuel depot in the north-east) for the whole map.
I have thus far found only 3 fuse boxes you can pry open and then disable/trap, 3 or 4 crates you can pry open in various places, and less than 5 speaker towers you can cut the cables for (why do I **NEED** bolt cutters when a bayonet will cut a speaker cable just fine???).
So there really should have been more options with the tools, and more tool spawn locations. This is a huge map, and there could have been far more options to mess with fuseboxes, cutting alarm speaker cables, disabling various generators of which I only found a total of 3 or 4 which is pathetic compared to how large the map is.
Overall, I'd have trouble ranking this map higher than a 5/10. It had a lot of potential, but the low quantity of things to fight, and low amount of alternative ways to distract, lure or generally noise-mask bring down the score... imo anyway.
This bothers me too and I can never understand that design. Fight your way to the top and then you can't use it.
When I played as invader, I always check the watchtowers and other high grounds from afar using binoculars. If the wall is low, camping host still could be tagged and shot. I've killed quite a lot of host players who hid in Marcel's house (in mission 1) from the bunker 500m away. And I also had an exciting shoot out from Marcel's house with the allied sniper who occupied that bunker. I think it could be real fun if there're low walls at all those vantage points, both for solo games and invasions.
In terms of enemy forces, it was pretty bare bones. Think I counted three sniper, two officers and one hand count of Jaegers and maybe a dozen infantry men. The difficulty in this map was no existent as it's practically a breeze waltzing in and out of the place.
As for the weapons, the Drilling is a much needed welcome in terms of variety. The Lee Einfield though, could have used an A1/A2 scope like M1903. it's ok, but it's the lack of a scope with a higher magnification on Authentic difficulty that makes me not gravitate to it.
u alert / trigger alarms *(this map,,, and some of the else maps...)
there should be spesial troops pooring in from sevral angles "Vampir Jäger Waffen SS" etc.
maken it VERY hard on a "NEW" ... "Authentic +" ,,, for the Solo/Duo Campaign...
soo,, with a seprate SAVE from evrything else,,,
and maybe even a "Authtentic + with Steam achivement"
for complete all maps without saves (like in SE 4)
You,, Opt in for "Axis invation",,
it only be possible with the reg. authentic and else else difficulty options, as it is now....
this,,,, woulda coulda solve this = lack of enemies issue
*and i'd also like to see some more annoying hard to spot German elite sniper's
PS.. oK,, "Tommy_Rebellion" Please ship this to Rebellion Bunker - TY :D

beside all that i realy likes the map -
and surly gona be extra tuff challenge, to track down "Karl" on this map, "Axis Invation"
The new campaign dlc isn't bad, but there isn't anything exciting or unique about it either. The build quality and care are far inferior to the earlier campaigns. They are so unique, with a clear background theme and unique background music. The new DLC campaign makes me feel like I'm in campaign 4.
The only thing that left an impression on me was that Karl had to climb a very tall tower like... sniper creed.
That’s only a few months ago - Conqueror just seems so tame. That misty drizzle in the valley just seems to flatten the environment and the overall mood. So little that’s new or exciting (88mm vs quad 20mm - a sarcastic wow here).
Maybe it’s me/us being jaded - I don’t know.
And I’ve only just realised that I wouldn’t know if the Conqueror music is fantastic or lame - I play with no music as I guess most other folk do.
As for the other stuff that came out, the Karl Paratrooper skin looks great. But I can't really see myself using the Drilling gun, I tend to use smgs in short bursts to stall and pick off enemies, and a shotgun doesn't really suit this role. Enemies are aimbots and tend to fire at you as soon as you are exposed to them, even if they have their gun pointed down or are facing away from you, so using a slow-firing gun like a shotgun will just get you shot a lot.
The new survival map Tide of War is bananas and I like it. Lots of close quarters combat on the streets, a big linear flat area along the beach, and a big field in the north with basically no sniper nests.
