Had one instantly scoping me at spawn (saw the scope glint far away), I moved away in cover, but was killed by an explosion, yet showing some sort of red line coming from the enemy player. Note: it was WAY to far for a panzerfaust and a very illogical place for a mine.
I am waiting for Arma 4, and hope an easier Interface, as so many buttons!! I did learn a lot on Arma 3, and also Breakpoint, but the latter, as SE5 was just a Joke on Campaigns, also failed with PvP. Companies just do not want to put much into a Game, (excluding Arma).
I still play SE5 and only reason, I can not find a Game, to replace at present. Was going to look at the new Modern Warfare 2, but again over priced and only 3 Missions for Coop.
I actually don't mind entering an empty (or near empty) stage. I once had a match like this in War Factory. I was spawned somewhere near the warehouse, so I guessed the host was at the lower part of the map. I then rushed to the top level of the Refinery, and placed my only teller mine on the other exit (if I stayed at the left, I placed it on the top of the ladder at the right, or vice versa). After a few minutes I saw the host player sneaking out from the Steelworks, so I waited for the perfect moment to shoot him.
It's very challenging, but it helps a player to improve the skill in invasion. Most of the empty-stage-hosts are also campers. They just wait for the invaders falling into their trap, so as long as you don't get too close it would be fine. I always take my time to check how to do a long shot. And most of the time the host would get out of patient and peek through windows or doors. That would be a great sniping chance.
My advice is "know the map" and "watch your steps". When dealing with empty stages, knowing where the golden vantage point is (like the Refinery in War Factory) and spotting mines are the keys to winning. BTW, it feels REALLY GOOD if you can win under these conditions. It feels EVEN BETTER if you can melee kill a cheater (but it's too hard).
I cant't say it better. Its so true. I have around 700 kills as invader, but I instantly leave lvl level 40 sweater lobbys. Most of them play on wolf mountain or landing force. So often I saw Karls camping far away in that fortress and in that lighthouse (coop lobbys) just to farm invaders. Or one of them spamming the phone while the other searching for you.
I’m finding also it’s now buggy when defusing mines and I’m often not getting the “defuse” prompt whilst shooting them is disabled - oh well just another challenge for the poor Axis!
Still playing though!
I call them map scrubbers. If I spawn and find nobody left, I leave straight away. As you surmise, we are just a mouse for the Karl to toy with, and I have no time for that. Occasionally I'll play one match for 40 minutes but that is very rare, and I almost always get smoked anyway given they usually have unlimited mines and ammo.
The explosion you had may have been an environmental one - hiding behind ammo crates or gas bottles is a big non-no for me! One round from them and it's game over. Anything painted red should be avoided at all costs - we can't use them as weapons but Karls can.
I am always suspicious of Karls with level 40 and multiplayer 50 playing any of the first 5 levels on Civilian or Cadet. They are almost always scrubbing the map to make a big sand-pit to farm Jagers on. That said, I've a few scalps of those types, but I prefer not to play in such a one-sided match.
And it is a shame there is no comment box at the end of the match so I can tell someone well done - and there have been many in my 2200+ invasion wins that are very worthy adversaries I would love to congratulate; I guess arseholes would just use it to whine and moan about getting beaten.
The main thing is to have fun, that's the aim of the game and thanks for your observations - it helps people out.
Dave.
Played plenty of 40s who don't deserve the level. Takes all types I guess.
Hint for Rebellion: why not allow pre-programmed messages? (may avoid the whining, but will allow for: Well done!)
