if invading, 'Karl' will often use the invasion phones as soon as you spawn to check where you are. A noob mistake in my book, as it tells me a lot as an invader too. While he can use it every 30 seconds, as an invader I am stuck with using it only after 5 minutes first, then every 3 minutes after that. I only use if absolutely necessary (as an invader and a Karl). For Karl, the 3rd time he uses it (and every time after that), his location is revealed as well as the invader's, so many Karls will only use it twice.
Just remember that your location as an invader can be revealed within seconds and every 30 seconds after that if the Karl is an idiot.
And further to this, any Karl worth his or her salt will use the 'sense' key (the one that allows Karl to see through walls etc if an enemy is very close) to give him or her a rough idea of where an invader is. Phones are a noob play and should be used very sparingly..
Yes, but I do think there is a skilled way to use the phone. I sometimes intentionally use the phone to expose my location, and move quickly to another spot where I can have a clear view over that phone area. I would even wait at a certain spot to let the camping counter begins, and once it tells me my location have been revealed I move away (usually somewhere next to a zip line). I use this to lure my opponent to come near, or let them think I'm at the other end of the map so that I can perform an unexpected assault. Feeding false intel to your opponent is a funny tactics.
yes, very valid point. use the phone to lure by all means - to use it to learn where the Jaeger is is moot - the HUD radar will soon tell you, and if he's close, the 'sense' will reveal all. In my experience not many people use the sense feature - if they did, I'd be killed a lot more often!
Cheers!
It seems when you are Jaeger against two "Karl's" then each Karl can see where you are twice without the game revealing their location, so the duo gets 4 times total without revealing their location? Correct me if I'm wrong.
how does that happen?
doesnt matter where i am, how many soldiers i told to concentrate around me
id like to know for when i get invaded lol
It is when the allied sniper uses their "focus" ability (the one that lets them see enemies through the walls.) It gives them a GENERAL direction to where you are, but not your exact location unless you are close enough to them to see you with the ability like other enemies. They can use that as much as they want to reveal which direction you are in.
