Bug in kill Fabian Richter?
Mission 3 Kill Fabian Richter is a bug.
No matter how stealthily I kill the soldiers, even before I get anywhere near my target it says mission failed even on reload from save points, I had to fully restart the mission instead of save point.
Am I missing something?

Sounds like a bug to me. He's far enough up the tower that you can be as loud as you want, long as you aren't on the staircase.

I swear I killed him the first time with a stealth takedown but it didn't count... so I started the level again on the lowest difficulty to tank my way up to him. I triggered their conversation and left. Richter goes on a small tower to the north when he's done talking. I completed it at that point

It's bug, but just wrong info, if you kill him it will count you kill. Just go and kill him.
Special kill is also bugged, so if you want to kill him with chandelier you will need to knock him, put him under chandelier and shot chandelier to drop on him. Using lever will not unlock you gun.

Ups, yep you are right. My bad. I get confused by all that German names and it was on 1st day when I did that mission :)

I had same issue but it showed for me when killing a wrong guy.
This prompt showed up for me instantly any time i killed the spy academy officer guy, then even if it showed that kill requirement is failed i could still kill actual richter guy in the church tower and unlock the weapon.

It's a bug. Do not use reload a save or quick reload.

It works I just did what you guys have said go ahead and do stealth kill & got the weapon at the end of mission..

Yoo, I think its more wrong information than bugged.

You need to kill him with a stealth meele takedown. My suggestion is below:

-play in the easierst difficulty, start at the smuggle pier (left side of the map) and be as stealthy as possible. dont even let them turn yellow if possible.

-check everytime the mission objective, if its failed, restart the mission

-that dude is a special enemy, means that you cant take him down from the front. once you are at their room, quick save, listen to the whole conversation, once they are done and left the room, your target will left the room as last. sneak behind him and take him down.
