I've been doing 10-12 invasion now though, and no one has been playing on authentic... Kinda boring. The game is already too easy, bunch of "stupid" things I wish they'd remove (or make optional) to give us more difficulty, and more realism
Can’t speak for 5 but in 4 here’s some stuff about authentic plus I love
- hitting a target with no aim indicator by judging wind and distance is always satisfying. I spend a few mins at the range with my Mosin before every mission
- no hud means I have to be more aware of the noises, like every item you pick up makes a different noise, you have to keep an ear out for your mines going off if a killcam doesn’t activate. Not being 100% if you killed someone with a shot adds tension. There not being any sound cover indicators makes it a little more satisfying too
- with no minimap or 5’s focus, there’s a huge emphasis on wearing headphones so you can hear enemies walking around, speaking (would help if I knew German). It’s tougher but really tunes you into being hyper vigilant and taking note of every little noise. I like to throw a rock at a nearby surface if I’m not 100% sure anyone is there and see if anyone reacts
- I’m a masochist but beating a level in authentic/plus is amazingly satisfying if you can do it without saving
- you really get a feel for how being loud is fine as long as you move position from where you made the noise from. Like throwing a grenade at a group a few yards away is totally safe cause there’s a huge explosion but they still won’t know where it came from. Making a ruckus and leading them into traps too is great fun. Having a guy slowly walk towards the bush you are hiding in, throwing a rock to distract him then dashing out before he turns back around is always fun
4 at least feels like mgs5 with all the fat cut out, just a huge open map, lots of tools and toys and a fantastic stealth system to deal with the objectives as you please. I’ve got into tons of loud fights in authentic plus in 4 and survived because I’d keep moving position and not let them pin down where I am
Basically the mechanics in 4 are so refined and well done you can pick up on all the minor sound ques and behaviour of the AI and confidently beat the hardest missions if you are smart and careful
amusingly authentic difficulty makes the game harder for invaders, so if you want a more balanced invasion experience authentic weapons ballistcs are a must
I watched a guy miss me at 70m 3 times because I was on authentic xD. I normally end up getting rushed by SMG's due to it.
The only thing rly brutal been survival alone on authentic, the Snipers destroyed me super fast and it's in general madness and chaos.
For the campaign I miss the flare gun guys, they been good at making you move more.
It's beyond me why they are only in survival now sometimes.
Oh man they took out the flare gun guys too? Next to the trip wires, S mines, crouch running and infinite throwing rocks I really have no idea why they pulled so many good features from 4 for no apparent reason
It's not reality/realistic, it's fantasy.
Difficulty is just a step up sometimes.
I didn't really look forward to A+ in SE4. Mainly because it simply takes longer, seems like alot of wasted time.
I found it to be about the same as the easier levels the more you play at the A+ level, only because you kinda get in a groove like any game you like.
Putting things on Authentic makes the game worth playing and you have to use hit and run tactics or you'll die. The AI is still pretty dumb, they'll often just stand around when on high alert. But at least they put up more of a fight.
SE4 was definitely way harder, I'd say normal or hard on SE4 is similar to authentic on SE5. Authentic on SE4 was intense but almost too hard for me. On SE5 it's just about right.
I do find that windage doesn't really seem to work on authentic, I could be wrong though.
