4 players in survival mode is fully accurate. Just figured I'd point out that if you include the potential enemy, there *is* a chance for three players existing in the campaign.
But wouldn't the invading player not be "cooperative"? They are trying to kill you. That'd be more like a multiplayer PVP scenario. Also, the invader is going to be a random person, there is will not be a way to invite a friend to invade you at launch. Though the devs may add the ability to invite friends to invade you at a later date.
So for actual cooperative players, my numbers are correct, and I'm guessing that was the intent of the question from the OP.
The fact that your answer was limited to the friendly side and left out the hostile side may have been what the person asking the question was looking for, hence my saying you were mostly correct. I just figured it best to put all information potentially relevant to the question out there. Perhaps some other person would stumble on this post, thinking it's close enough to their own question of "how many total players can be in a campaign session?" or something like that, and they'd benefit both from your answer and from my elaboration.
"INVASION MODE – CAMPAIGN DROP IN PvP AND CO-OP
Invade another player’s Campaign as an Axis sniper and engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, providing a new dimension to the challenge as you stalk your prey. Alternatively, as Karl you can call for assistance and have a second sniper drop in to help you out of a tricky situation.
"
So there actually can be a friendly sniper.
I took this to mean that you can either have a friend play the campaign with you for co-op, or if you don't and the option is turned on, you can be helped by people who try to matchmake as friendly snipers. I may be mistaken, though. It'd certainly be neat to have two people in co-op, an enemy sniper comes in, and then a third co-op guy pops in to help get right of him. It's either that, or it's the "just like an enemy can pop in, a friendly player can pop in randomly if you're playing solo" system that a few games from other companies have gone with.
