MAX PAYNE AGAIN?
I expect Max Payne in a Max Payne game, that's just common sense.
In a Max Payne game you expect Max Payne.
In a Tomb Raider game you expect Lara Croft because Tomb Raider wouldn't be Tomb Raider without Lara Croft, the same goes with Sniper Elite with Karl Fairburn. If the protagonist wouldn't be Karl Fairburn, then people would complain for "where's Karl Fairburn?" Yeah, talking about common sense.
It's an elite special forces soldier. Not unthinkable in general, given priority air transport. The war lasted about 6 years...
I didn't know his name until I saw in the forums.
Most people, not just gamers know who James Bond is, who Lara Croft is, and who Max Payne is....and, their names are literally in the title (name) of the games/movies, etc
The same can not be said about Karl Fairburn, and more importantly, the game is not named SE with Karl Fairburn, or Karl Fairburn SE, its named Sniper Elite.
So yeah, talk about common sense
Just because you didn't know Karl's name until you read it in the forums, it doesn't mean that others haven't been paying attention or hadn't recognized the trope.
In addition, James Bond who has been with us since the 50's and not the 60's as you'd originally indicated, doesn't appear by name on any of the novels written by Ian Fleming.
I'm not bored of the series in the slightest and I hope Rebellion continue to roll it out as per their intention; rather than pandering to those who apparently care little for it.
OK, so I got it wrong about James Bond being in the title...that does not change the fact that anyone that has heard of 007 knows its James Bond, and vice versa....it's also knitpicking and padantic to focus on such insignificant points.
Personally I don't care if the use the same guy.
Fact is, the other guy made a bad comparison with game characters starting at post #17, and that's what this is about.
The other part, separate from this, is people, myself included, getting bored with a game that quite frankly feels recycled.
Maybe you're easily entertained, but that does not mean the rest of us are. Some of us prefer a bit of variety and change, instead of the same old tired formula again and again.
As I said, based on what we know, this will be a "wait for a sale" game, whereas had zhey done something different, I more than likely would have got it on release, or even pre-ordered it.
This has become repetitive and pointless now, so I see no reason in continuing.
To those who like how it is, I hope you find joy with SE5...for the rest, either give it a try and hope for the best, or don't.
Assume it's been lookalikes?
