"Denuvo"-Cancer included => no thanks!
I was waiting for this game so freaking long.. but I will NOT buy it with "denuvo".
When will the Industry learn? To force "denuvo" on paying people is an insult. Denuvo gets often beaten in 1 day. Most in a week. You don't prevent anything with it. You only cause stress and frustration to the people willing to buy your product.

"As >Extreme Tech< notes, Denuvo causes performance issues in nearly every tested game. From longer load times to frame rate drops, Denuvo’s protection appears to slow things down. Performance sometimes improves by 50% after Denuvo is removed by the developer."

"[Denuvo] operates on the kernel level, which gives full freedom to it to interfere with the system without any need to ask for permission." -> Let's use a police force that is mightier than the law of the state... what could go wrong? xD

- performance: -50%
- is freaking Malware (antivirus software reacts)
- causes problems with OS and certain CPUs (e.g. Intel Alder Lake)
- denuvo server issues: can't play the game you paid for (happens all the time)
- game costs more: denuvo needs to get paid too

Many games released on Epic-Store get denuvo removed for good reason. So Steam wants to lose costumers in the long run?

Guardians of the Galaxy, (sometimes can't play, denuvo servers)
Shadow of Tomb Raider, (sometimes can't play, denuvo servers)
StarWars: Battlefront II, ( can't connect, can't play, denuvo servers)
DOOM Eternal (unplayable after denuvo patch, got removed! Bethesda learned)
TotalWar: Warhammer 3, (performance wrecked, ongoing issue)
Tekken 5, (performance wrecked, president openly pissed about denuvo)
Batman: Arkham Knight, (performance wrecked, removed)
Mad Max, (performance issues)
2Dark, (problems -> removed it)
Shadow of War etc. etc.

Edit: Nope, not "crying" for no reason. I actually studied computer science at an university. But even without that background, even without any knowledge of coding, it's an easy to understand topic. Steam "LVL 0" promo accounts on a mission again, I guess.

:sniperelite:Feedback is important for change. that's why I invested time to write in detail. Democracy needs it too - hope you know that. :amadeus_spooked:
In case the "Devs" or the "head of sales" want to know why fans stop buying a product they once loved. Otherwise weird stuff happens like.. EA dooming Command'n'Conquer or the tale of Borderlands 3, Back4Blood, RedAlert3 etc. :epihappy: Have a good one folks!
My the force be with you. :pickax:

Maybe still unexperienced players, "Steam LVL 0", need an example:
When there are "plenty of fish in the see" and you have to choose with which fish you wanna "have fun" - would you pick one that will transmit STDs to your system or would you wait until she/he got rid of them? :amadeus_happy:

I was going to wait for an 80% off sale anyway since this is more like DLC for SE4 than a new game.

And yeah...adding ♥♥♥♥ like Denovo is a slap in the face to actual paying customers, and it is a fact that it does nothing to stop piracy.

I'll now buy the game because it has a good anti-cheat product on it. Well done.

Lol, it's not anti cheat, it's anti crack and it's trash. Denuvo cares so much about making it take 2 months to crack instead of 2 days that they're willing to ruin the games performance for it. This has been proven over and over and over again. Then what happens after the 2 months... lol

It saddens me. :sniperelite: Calling the fans (that supported the franchise) for a decent, respectful request "trolls", is the kind of love only a certain kind of corporate mindset is able to do.

:sniperelite: - Epic game store exclusive deals (screwing the steam fans) :zoya_done:
:sniperelite: - 276,42€ of DLCs on zombiearmy4 steam release (screwing the fans) :zoya_done:
:sniperelite: - punishing fans with denuvo while illegal versions (which I will never support) certainly don't have it. (screwing the fans/costumers) :zoya_done:

Sorry that we apparently supported your company into a weird, impolite, greedy mindset that doesn't care about anything anymore. Had high hopes for Rebellion in the past. Guess that path is settled. Wish you the best. :chug: May you get all the money you wanna make, just to understand that there is more to life. Moving on. :butterfly:

"[Denuvo] operates on the kernel level, which gives full freedom to it to interfere with the system without any need to ask for permission."
------

umm, they use a driver now ? please give more detail, as i think you are talking nonsense...
its all fair and good to hate denuvo but at least know why you hate them... and justify it...

starforce did use drivers and died a death because of it.. i cant see denuvo going down the same path somehow, especially after the sony rootkit fiasco (denuvo was a daughter company of sony at the beginning)....

actally, simple way to test it install the game using a non admin account, run game using same account (non admin cant load drivers or play with services).... does the game load ?
yeppp... ergo you are just an ill informed troll that doesnt know what they are talking about and believe all you are spoonfed

I am someone who will always support DRM-Free products simply because I like to own what I buy.

Its one of the reasons my first choice of a store is GOG first and steam second when its a game I really want and there is not chance of it being DRM-Free.

I have had a lot of bad experiences with DRM services in the past breaking games or not allowing me to launch the game at all (securom/starforce/tages/safedisk etc etc)

Denuvo thus far to be fair is not the worst I have experienced, but I have had times where I got an error that I couldn't launch the game because "server not found" mostly when I played offline for long periods of time (when I'm serving overseas the luxury of internet is rare)

I understand the fear devs have with piracy but its my belief that it doesn't hurt sales, most people who pirate have no intention of spending money on the game so in the long run there is nothing to be gained but hurts legit consumers with the negatives of having an anti-tamper service like that running in the background (long-loading times etc etc)

A good compromise and I think the least the devs could do is after a certain timeframe
(~2 years or so) after the games last update they should remove it since the games "golden" age has past and there is nothing of value offered by it anymore
e.g Sniper Elite 4 doesnt really need it anymore.

A lot of publishers do it like that (Bethesda/Squeenix)

I very rarely buy games with DRM these days, mostly indie (which are usually on GOG or DRM-Free on steam) mostly because most games released are not to my liking (ubisoft open-world stuff online focused games etc etc) the only exceptions I currently own is Doom Eternal (which I am certain, will be removed at some point in the future) and Sniper Elite 4 which I am hoping will have it removed, but its been a while.

In any case I will be buying SE5 because I love ww2 stuff and stealth games, but its a very rare exception for me, I do recognize the fact however that no matter how much people complain about its inclusion, its up to the devs to choose what they want with their product and up to the consumer to choose if they buy it or not, this works in all types of markets, in my experience however the majority dont really care or even know about DRM stuff and just buy and play, so I think boycotting is kinda useless, I still do it whenever I can (havent bought an ubisoft/ea/activision game for 10 years now) but I do know its futile.

Anyways, this is my opinion on the matter, if anyone read it, I of course respect if anyone has a different viewpoint on this, hopefully you do as well, I hope rebellion reads this.

All DRM is cracked relatively quickly these days, even Denuvo.

After 2 months or so it makes zero sense to still be using it (denovo).

In any case, people that pirate games are going to pirate them even if it takes a year or longer to crack it (which it doesn't).

I used to be in this camp, many MANY years ago when every ounce of computer power was chased after and anything that hindered that performance put the game/software into the 'hacker basket'. But now that I am i9 - RTX3080, I have no issues, not even lag in MSFS on ultra 2560x1440 and at crowded airports. So when it comes to the software owner wanting some sort of protection against those that believe they have a right to steal it, I will support the vendor before you lot any day.
Have a nice day and try to keep your activities underground where they belong :)

Not buying this game until remove Denuvo.
