Diving Into Entropy For the First Time
I was told that farming runs with stuff like extra spike damage and extra item costs over & over doesn't work, that staying at the same Entropy level won't keep giving you any extra rewards unless you keep increasing it so here's my question:

I'm fairly solid in my skills, is it better to jump right to something like Entropy level 8 and it stacks all of the previous payouts, or should I start with Entropy 1 and keep adding things so as not to miss rewards? I don't mind hitting the ground running, I just don't want to miss any of the payouts the lower Entropy levels.

you can only get one reward per run, if you jump right to entropy 8 you'll only get reward for entropy 1. So make runs gradually harder by starting with 1.

Pretty much what he said. It's designed so you can't just get that one incredible run at Entropy 30 or whatever and get everything in one go, so you have to slowly raise the challenge. You won't miss anything this way, but it's a bit of a grind.

Depending on what you excel at, pick the appropriate entropy. High Stage entropy means more annoying platforming. Boss HP makes the fight last longer. Not harder, just longer. Just don't grab the Retaliation entropy. That one needs to go away.

I don't necessarily mind grind, more reason to play just means I play more. 20XX was pretty much "one run and done" with its story unless you wanted to get achievements and unlock all the augments, so more 30XX to continue playing makes me happy.

Thanks for all of the input - I'd have jumped straight to level 8 and then increased it to 9 without realising it was probably only giving me a reward for level 2. I don't exactly mind that I cant jump the front of the line since building upon each previous run feels pretty cozy.

Ironically, Retaliation was the first thing I thought to grab since the combo of the Corruption core with the Immunity blast on it and an "attacks can gain you health" skill usually means that the hit that kills the enemy also nulls the crystal that shoots out of their corpse.

It was the increased spike damage modifier that ultimately got me when I tried it.

based early eye for an eye player
Retaliation is usually a mild challenge modifier with a bit more caution (except in late Penumbra with the respawning orbs), though it can be a pain when using it with using Zen Ascent.

The health modifiers are generally the easiest to add, additionally getting the patient hunter augment negates much of the boss hp bonus.

Final Destination & early Powerless Void could theoretically be made easier by the environment configurator; but there's currently a bug that prevents that from working at higher levels of the upgrade.

Enemy Speed, still waters, rising tide and level 1 cursed wounds are about somewhere in the middle in terms of difficulty.

The others look much harder to acclimatise to (instant death hazards anyone)?
