PS4 DS4: controller mapping problems
I have big troubles to get my PS4 (DS4) controller work like intended. I am not using any third party tools. Pure native cable connected controller in Win11.

First problem, the button mapping pretty much s*cks in this game. Whoever set up the default key bindings must be drunk or anything weird is happening because you can't play like this. So I urgently need to remap the key binding. So far so good, as key remapping is in the game menu.

If I turn off Steam PS support, my controller is recognized just as "wireless input device". Unfortunetally buttons are not correctly recognized. L2 and R2 are displayed as "share" and "options" if I bind them, X and O is comletely false displayed as well. Afar tfrom that the controller pretty much works as intended.

So as someone mentioned in the community, forcing to turn on Steam PS support does in fact repair the wrong button display, and the controller is now recognized now as "XInput device". Fine for me. So now I can remap the buttons and they are displayed nicely at the same time.... buuuuuut...

Second problem, as soon as I quit the game and reenter, the button remaps are all gone again. They aren't saved. I have to set them up everytime again I boot up the game. Doesn't matter if I do it on menu or ingame menu. Though all other things are saved properly. The game just looses the rebind. And this seems to happen in any state I try to rebind controller buttons, reboot game, and bam - gone, the old pretty much useless default button binds.

Seems that this game is lacking a proper native PS4 (DS4) support (even if it is displayed) and for some reason don't save personal rebinds properly. This pretty much is annoying me a lot, as this combination makes it difficult to handle.

Has anyone else those two issues with a PS4 controller and maybe does know a good workaround or fix?

EDIT: found a fix for the saving issue. Seems my AVP blocked this particular part in the player profile. So my changes never were synced to Steam and everytime Steam overwritten my local changes. Weird enough anyway.

I whitelisted the folder with the saves: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\30XX\
