Xbox 360 gamepad issues

I don't know what the hell is wrong with this game..

First of all, it seems like my controller is detected twice. Both as a regular xbox 360 gamepad AND an xbox 360 gamepad for windows so it's listed twice. Trying to set the xbox 360 gamepad (for windows) is not possible, because any change I try to make ends up inputting x or y axis or rotations even though I don't even touch the analog sticks. No issues whatsoever in any other game. If I try to set the regular xbox 360 gamepad (it's still the exact same gamepad only it's listed twice) if I try to input the b button it throws me out of the menu. If I try to input the A button, nothing happens.

While playing the buttons are all wrong. First of all Shank jumps at both the B and A button, the game says the b button is for throwing knives but Shank does it with the X button.

Oh, and then there is the horrid crashing that happens half the time when trying to configure the controls..

Anyone know of a fix?

Reinstall the game. I had a similar problem when I first played.

Thanks, I'll try that. Might be that I installed it when I had windows 7 and then transfered over the steamapps and userdata folder to my windows 8 install. I suppose that could cause some issues.

Still the same issues, only difference is that the buttons are different (but still completely wrong) and I still can't map the A button to anything.

I'd rather just pass on shank 2 completely than pay 10 dollars for xpadder, but thanks anyway. My xbox 360 gamepad works perfectly for any other game I want to use it for, including Mark of the ninja (another klei game 2d game).

Yeah i have the same issues, B is both for throwing knifes and jump and other buttons do 2 diferent things too.
I'll see if i can find a solution somehwere

Ok i have no idea, tried rebinding the controls so that they both matched but it just keeps setting things to the X-axis when i try to change it and few seconds later it crashed.
I'm gonna ask on the Klei forums.

Just get a torrent of xpadder, or some other open source option

I have xPadder, but this game supposedly has controller support. So it should work without me having to do any more work other then just plug the damn controller in.

Similar issue here, the bottom shoulder buttons both map to the left no matter what I do in the settings. Really irritated by this.
