Help...Controller not working
I have a Logitech controller and I use x360ce to simulate a 360 controller. This works in Castle Crashers, but not work in Shank 2. I am wondering if I copy the dlls to wrong place or miss some settings.

It does work, just not in the menues. Also, for some reason I can't pick things up in the game. I can grab guys, which uses the same button, but I can't pick things up.

It does not really work, because for whatever reason Shank always looks up and "down" only resets him. And because of this constantly "up", you cannot reconfigure the buttons, also not use the menu and not pick up things. And my start and back buttons (on my Logitech F310) are placed wrong.

Use x360ce to reconfigure your buttons. Also, not sure what you're talking about with looking up. I don't have that problem, but you're not the first person I've heard it from. Did you setup a profile in x360ce, or did you just load the default settings?

True, the menus don't work, which can be a pain, but just use the mouse for the menus, then play the game. But not being able to pick things up (though somehow still being able to grab dudes) is pretty much a game-breaker.

I make things work! Just change dll file name created by x360ce. Change xinput_1_3 to xinput_1_2, this should work if you setup your controller correctly.

On my side, A and B are exchanged in game menu, but correct in game action.

Thanks for your reply.
U tryed LB button on your controller for grabing? Change x360ce setting may help.

I tried every button to pick stuff up. It's funny, because you use the same button to pick things up as to grab people, and I can grab people just fine. I played with the settings in x360ce a bit, but just got frustrated. I re-mapped all the buttons, played with the input hook. I'm gonna try changing the filename like you said. Any other suggestions?

If I do not change file name to xinput1_2.dll, the controller will not be recognised at all.. This game is fine with xbox 360 controllers, so it can work correctly in a xbox simulator in theory.

Okay. Here's the best fix I can figure. Use Big Picture. It let's you map your controller within Steam, and then sets all the game's settings accordingly.

The problem is (with this game anyway) that for some reason the buttons get mapped to the old SNES layout, rather than the current XBox layout. So now that we've all gotten used to Y being where we thought X should be, this game decides to flip back to the old way.

You mean launch game in Big Picture mode then your controller can be setuped automatically?

Plug in your controller, don't install x360ce. You shouldn't need it. Make sure Windows recognizes the controller. Start "Big Picture" by clicking the button in the top-right of your Steam window. When Big Picture starts, it will tell you that it found a controller, and ask you to map all the buttons. Anything you run in Big Picture mode should automatically use those settings and your controller should work. In the case of Shank 2, some of the buttons are still not mapped properly (see above), but every button function is mapped to a button on my controller.

Thanks! This is the first time I find that Big Picture is useful :)

me too. Glad we could figure that out.
I recommend motionjoy's application for controller usage, had no problems in menus or gamepla at all, with a ps3 controller.
