Or perhaps it's just an Easter egg. Perhaps the developer just threw a bone (hueh) and we are going to do all the leg work to amuse ourselves.
Hopefully though this is all untrue, and these skulls are actually more than they're cracked up to be, huh?
There is a recipe that gives a hint "if you add an egg ...", and I thought that might be a use for the skulls, but sadly it was just referring to a regular chicken egg.
As Yxklyx observed, the "glinting" tchotchkes can be "considered", and you'll find something in them. For me it wasn't a memory, but an object that explained the glinting. However, I could craft that object very easily by that point, so I didn't pursue this further.
There's three crafting recipes in the game that require an egg (brewable or not) and the skulls qualify for them: the chimeric larva, the stymphling and the living relic
Hmm, I knew this already- but without any slots that want to take "Thing" or "Egg" (At least that I've found so far), how can I apply them anywhere?
They apply, but neither of the skulls have an aspect that allows them to be slotted into a workstation (they're just Eggs and Things), so it doesn't really matter that they apply; they still can't be used.
